True, but she has a vagina and she's on the internet so that magnifies everything by x5 when it comes to trolling.

It's not bait, it's a statement.

The image is just because that one in particular amuses me.

Surely I am not the only one who thinks all this "we need to talk about race" bullcrap needs to go away...

I grew up being told some people look different but we're all the same on the inside. At school we were explained what racism was and every kid could see clearly it was stupid and nobody should be stupid enough to do that.
Everyone got along great and I saw not an iota of racism around me.

Then, internet happened, Facebook happened, and now, it's race race race race all the time.
And now there's a metric f**kton of racial tension where there was none. And a massive division where there need not be one.

I understand in the USA there was more significant racism the whole time, but I wonder if anyone ever stopped to wonder how much of USA's drama and constant talk of racism has seeped into the rest of the world with globalization and the internet.

When I first heard BLM had a Canadian branch I facepalmed and almost wanted to cry at the sheer stupidity of it.

I believe the only way to stop the stupidity, is to remind everyone we're all people and we just look different. Rather than the current approach, of reminding everyone we're all racist and we need to stop being racist, especially white people.

Just my 2 cents. But please tell me I'm not completely f'king insane and someone else agrees.

Whether or not you can see it doesn't matter. In many places, racism is far more subtle than that.

Whether you see it absolutely matters. If it's immediately visible, then it's clearly worse than if you can't. If it's far more subtle, then it's clearly not AS BAD as if it is blatantly visible.

But again, I was talking about Canada.
We've had a diverse population for a long time and by and large, there were no racial tensions (except for the First Nations).

Incidentally, I'm mixed (who isn't nowadays) and I never considered it part of my identity.
My father looks like the stereotypical indian chief, all he's missing is some feathers, and he's never faced discrimination and he has been a very successful entrepreneur.

So I was raised with the belief that respect is earned and your image and accomplishments will determine how people treat you.

All of that just to say basically you're not talking to some "ignorant white guy who has no clue what racism is because he's never faced it".
Which is how such discussions tend to be completely one-way and unproductive.

My point simply was that now, in 2017, in Canada, I see obvious racial tensions, where none were visible at all before.
And I suspect it has much to do with constantly hearing about racism over the media.
If you keep telling a group of people that they were being discriminated against, they'll start believing it.
If we keep acting like racism is rampant and all around us all the time, people will start believing it, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So I think, based on what I see in Canada, that the approach the USA has been taking is probably counter-productive.
Talking about how there is so much racism won't fix racism. It will likely just create more.

Teaching kids what should be common sense: Treating others the way you want to be treated. And reinforcing the notion that you hold the key to shape your future, that there is no invisible force holding you down. I think that is the path to ending this foolishness.
