Wait, what?

Angel Beats genre is quite bizarre. It can be considered sci-fi, comedy, school life, slice of life, romance among other things. It's definitely a multi-genre title. The slice of life/school life aspect made me go looking for more anime with that element. I had already been hooked on sci-fi, comedy and romance before then but it got me to try anime such as Girl's High, Someday's Dreamers, Glass Mask, Glasslip, etc that I still consider some quality slice of life anime. The depth of the characters flawed lives that beat them down before their deaths gave the relationships between the characters so much more meaning.

My Little Monster (Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun) & Orange were the 2 animes that really got me into romance, ever since then, I've been watching a ton of other romance/comedy animes and I just fell in love.

I'm not sure if it made me fall in love with the genre, but after watching Death Note I definitely went on a dark/bloody/killer anime spree

Clannad changed my viewing habits significantly.

I completely devoured slice of life, rom/com, comedy, and romance anime catalogs after that. The lifetime amount of series I watched in the coming months afterwards probably went up 1000%.

I had some stuff going on in my personal life that year (around 2009-ish) and was pretty depressed. And those new genres would both cheer me up, and hit me in the feels, depending on the series. It was SUPER cathartic, helped me through a rough patch, and really made me the anime fan I am today.

Hade never relay watched any romance or slice of life for that part until I found my self searching for another Anime to watch and just stumbled Toradora.

Would never have thought I would love an Anime of any of those genre but right now I just can't get enough of anyone of them.

I never really cared for Slice of Life anime because why would care about what someone does in their day? But then I found myself enjoying Romance anime (which can fall under Slice of Life). Romance anime was the plot I needed for me to enjoy Slice of Life anime.

Death Note was the first anime that I started watching with knowledge of anime lol it really turned me onto the psychological genre.
I haven't watched a lot of it, but it stands to be the one that I have the most interest in

Gundam Seed got me hooked on mecha anime. Toradora! got me into romcom/slice of life type anime (never even considered them before). Can't say that any others really got me into a specific genre though. I sample shows from a variety of genres, but with the above two I spent more time in these genre's than any others.
