How easy is it for you to tell if a girl or guy likes you in real life? I have trouble telling. How can I tell if they're just being friendly, or if they really like me?

You have trouble telling because no one ever liked you ever. Join the club.

I'm pretty thick, so I have to be deliberately told that someone likes me. I've missed a lot of signals in the past.

I can't say with certainty because people are obviously not straightforward all the time. It seems the majority of hetero males (myself included) is always inclined to suspect every female likes them at least a little, as part of our overinflated ego. Focus on actual behavioral differences though, such as percentage of time spent making eye contact, amount of smalltalk, proximity compared to other people, etc.

I don't realize it, I am dumb, and if I do catch a signal by any chance, I think it's a joke and get upset.

It's been a while, but I feel if they want to be around you more often, it may be a sign. They may do it subconsciously, but you may see them around more compared to the frequency that you had seen them in the past. It also depends on how forward the person is. They may just be an extrovert, and want to be near people. If they are an introvert and talk to you a lot more than others, then that may mean something. This is at least what happened in my situation. We both began talking more, messaging each other more often, and then started making more plans together.

It depends on the person. Some people (especially women) are flirty just to be friendly and it isn't genuine romantic interest in you. Others are as blunt as a mace to the face about it.
The shy ones are actually easier to tell cause they get oddly awkward around you in a way they aren't with other people and you can pick that up on near enough the first meeting.
You average, non introverted woman though is a ****ing mystery half the time though. Just ask them. Worst they can say is no.

Pretty easy if you look at how they act around you compared to how they act around others. Though I'm not fond of chasing games, if you cant tell me how you feel to my face ill act as though I don't notice a thing.
