I am the worst when it comes to this, petty acts that I don't realize how low they were until I'm in bed regretting the day (i have a morbid sense of humor apparently.) Just needed to say that It'd be hypocritical of me to say I wasn't guilty.

We always start an argument. Really though I almost laugh when I see a page size response of someone's angry post towards the author.

Have you ever listened to or read someone's opinionated argument and was completely changed by them? I'm sure it's happened but almost always in a non factual argument, or argument that doesn't need full on facts like, "Is masturbation good or bad, morally?"

That's like literally the furthest thing from my emotional thoughts right now and had to laugh and put it up anyway.

Seriously though, it's just a waste of time. There's been so many times where I've typed a long ass response but deleted it all because it's not even worth it. Your re-butte may bring others in or otherwise cause drama and who wants that.
I totally do press enter all the time and then think when did I care so much about *insert topic*, and it's worse in real life because there's less time to think about the shit coming out of my mouth already.

In my own personal opinion some people find it fun (unconsciously.) Get some kind of rise out of it, but more often then not (mainly in RL) causes a huge spiderweb of drama and is so unnecessary.

Just a thought

It could be toned waaaay the fuck down. Like I know Barbara, masturbation is frowned upon, and? my bad?" There's no need to get into a 5 page essay on why I don't care about your opinion and that masturbation is blah blah blah

How do you even delete a forum, much less edit without just replacing the original post...

There should be a little icon that says *delete* next to the one that says *edit* But I think it goes away after a while.

You can't delete the first post in a thread, but you can edit it by clicking "Edit" in the top right corner (if nothing seems to happen when you do that, you probably accidentally clicked "Permalink" instead.

You can delete other of your own posts in a thread--but there's a time limit of about an hour after you create it.

If you want me to replace your first post with your second post and delete the second post, I can do that--because I'm a moderator. (I'd basically just be copy pasting into your first post, then deleting the second, which you might also be able to do if you hurry.)

No one's response is worth my time especially long ones (I did read your op though). I'll probably read only the first sentence, as soon as I think it's bullshit, I'm already looking at the next post or thread.

Yeah, that's why I don't waste my time posting in all these political threads in GD. No matter how right you are, idiots are going to believe what they want to believe. You might as well debate a brick wall, for all the good it's going to do you.

That's kinda lame. What if you completely screwed up and did a thing or two against the rules but don't want a mod to look/take it down so you wanna delete it as fast as possible?

It's called consistent and confirmation bias. You don't want to change your opinion because it doesn't match what you perceive to be true.

It took me awhile to transition from Christianity to Atheism. Thanks these two biases. But eventually logic dictates and my emotions went out the door.

You edit it.

If you want the thread closed down (which, granted, would require bringing it to the attention of a mod) you can edit the opening post to say "I screwed up. Please ignore." then report the thread and we'll closed it. Moderators here aren't very judgey or mean, and if you catch yourself before we do, we appreciate that and we'll just shrug it off (unless it's something you do repeatedlyl.)

If I agreed with someone, that would only mean that I respect you as a person

an opinion is only valid when I can see eye to eye, otherwise it means nothing.

I don't question Logic, I only question the way someone formulates an opinion. The way I see it; its as far as you want to take it.
