But what kind of e-sports? Is it going to be MOBAs and FPSs?

Or fighting games?

I'm hoping for the latter ... Street Fighter and Guilty Gear at the Olympics. Now wouldn't that be fun.

I'm guessing MOBAS are top spot right now
Probably League Specifically
For the Olympics, you can't really argue with including the biggest video-game in the world

Past that, I have no idea
I would say a representative from each genre (or some of them), but which ones to choose

Counterstrike is probably best for FPS
Something classic (Mortal Combat or Street Fighter) for Fighting games
Current Smash Bros. game because smash bros

But what about 3D fighting games? Puzzle Games? Survival? Platforming? MMORPG?
Is there anything with enough PvP and that's popular enough to warrant being in the Olympics?

overwatch,, splatoon

True
Though Splatoon may be labeled a kids game, which it is. Plus, how in-depth is the pro Splatoon scene. That is another thing to consider past a game being eligible; would it have the competitors?

Do you think DOTA would be in there?

I don't see the problem (aside from the it's not a sports argument) or have anything against it.

Olympics used to have tug-a-war as an event and even chess iirc so why not.

Oh 2020 games in tokyo is going to have chess as an Olympic sport (of the mind?) apparently there you go.

Chess is indeed a sport, so nothing wrong with having it in 2020. So, same with eSports. Though I'm not sure how good that will actually be... Honestly not that much of a fan of how competitive even the casual mode of games that went pro became. Still, I like cheering for the games I do watch, so I can see how fun it can be...

Idk, it takes a lot of consideration. I can't say the effort in eSports right now is quite the same as the other sports currently in the Olympics (not diminishing esports athletes, but it's just that the Olympic athletes are insane)

Just make a damn mental olympics and put it there instead. Chess, poker, e-sports, and so forth.

No, leave the Olympics as physical sports. It should be a place for people who are at the pinnacle of their sport who have trained for all their life physically to make it.
