Rarely have I rooted for an anime romance as hard as I did for those damn kids. Probably because I was that weirdo in eighth grade who drew battleaxes on his notebook and wanted to pretend he was casting spells instead of doing his math homework.

Angel Beats (eventually)

Yeah, but when "eventually" happens, the claws sink in fast and deep.

Golden Time
Love chunibyo.

Probably those two, if we are including manga, Nisekoi and spice and wolf.

I really liked Orange, Your Name, and Koe no Katachi.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is one that really hit the spot with the comedy and romance combo for me, though Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun was very nice too

Tsurezure Children is still airing, but it's already one of my favorites. So cute!

The 3 that stick out for me are:

My Love Story - Probably my favorite rom/com. You root for the main couple and they actually hook up fairly early rather than stringing it along and entire series.

Golden Time - This was my first rom/com so it's got a special place for me. I made me realize I can enjoy these kind of shows.

Tsukigakirei - It's fairly new but I thought this was an extremely charming show and it felt realistic. It reminded me of my first love and how my heart would race every time I was near her.

Both were already mentioned, but an interesting pair to watch back to back are From Me to You and Say "I Love You". They start with the same premise (ostracized girl is noticed by popular guy) but play out somewhat differently.

Depending on how it develops, Basilisk might be a pretty good one.

I'll add these to this:

Charlotte

The world god only knows

The world is still beautiful

I just finished watching "The world god only knows" I was really pleasantly surprised by it. It might not seem like a "real romance" anime from the description. But the MC grows quite a bit through the 3 seasons and even though he claims to love only 2D girls he eventually falls for a 3D one and you can feel the love they have for one another at the end.

But since the studio making went out of business after the 3rd season you have to read the manga to get the "proper" ending that will now most likely never get animated. The way the anime ends at the 3rd season is still pretty good if you want too leave it at that though.

On a serious note. I'd say Rumbling Hearts, Anohana, Tsukigakirei.
