I don't even see why it even matters to take down Robert E. Lee statue.

So do we take down the statues of generals that committed mass genocide to the Native Americans? Do we take down all the founding fathers that had slaves? How far do we take down every statue of past Americans that offended someone?

You do realise that most of those other guys were notable for things other than fighting to keep minorities as second class citizens, right?

You still didn't answer the question.

The confederacy never was part of the united states. And in fact existed and fought to destroy the united states.

I can understand having the memorabilia in a museum. But it has no place being on public property.

I underlined how Lee was notable only for fighting against civil rights while the others you mentioned may have done similarly shitty things, but were notable for other reasons. What part of that is not a clear answer to you? Nobody celebrates the founding fathers for killing aboriginals or owning slaves, they do so for founding the country they currently live in. To compare people doing that in spite of the shitty shit those people did to opposing the celebration of someone who is celebrated for his shitty shit is a false equivalence.

Right or wrong, General Lee fought for his home state of Virginia. Fighting for your homeland and neighbors is a righteous thing in and of itself, even if it meant also fighting for slavery.

Absolutely. Confederate sympathizers love to propagate the idea that people want the monuments taken down to "erase history" because that's the least flimsy justification they can muster to justify continuing to celebrate a racist. In reality, I've not seen a single person say "take Lee out of the history books" all we're saying is "take him off the pedestal".

Here's the problem with that logic. You cannot actually quantify only qualify which horrors is worse than the other. I would say murder is the ultimate horror but someone way disagree me that it's rape. Trying to justify which horror is worse than the other is just a matter of opinion. Nothing more and nothing less.

No. No, it is not righteous to fight for your home's right to treat people like animals. Get those shitheaded lies oit of here.

You're trying to hard. Is this your first alt troll account? You need to ease into it to reel people in first. You can't just spastically jerk the lure around before you even get a nibble.

Most of the confederate statues were put up decades after the war, some as recent as 2010. They were funded by the bitter confederates and white supremacists and the like as a giant middlefinger to reconciliation and atonement. They're nothing more than propaganda pieces.

Which is why I'm glad this shit happened.

because no other people of all races, genders, sexualities, and delusions argue over what's right and wrong

literally the only people who argue over morality are straight, white, and male

no one else

everyone else agrees on morales

This has fuck all to do with which horror is worse. It does, however, have to do with celebrating someone because they committed a horror. That is bad, no matter how you try to spin it. People don't go to the Lincoln memorial and say "This guy was really inspiring because he owned slaves." They talk about the good he did, like, you know, freeing the fucking slaves. Now if you want to make the argument that Lee is celebrated for things other than fighting for slavery, then you would be providing an actual counterpoint. You would still be wrong, but you'd be in the right ballpark at least.
