Ha got you beat by one year with the Gatchaman adaptation Battle of the Planets.

I remember catching the re-runs! Had no idea at the time the robot was an add-in by the American distributor.

Ah Saturday Morning cartoons.

It wasn't a Saturday morning cartoon it was on in the afternoons @4 on weekdays

By the time it aired in my area it was on Saturday mornings.

Though I do recall Starblazers being on in the afternoons on weekdays. No matter what I was doing I'd stop dead to run to the TV.

Late 80s, here in Latin America, anime was far more common and diverse.
Grew up on Saint Seiya, Robotech, Ranma 1/2, Dragon Ball and the like.
I think it's fair to say I've watched and loved anime for 30 years and going.

Probably around early to mid 2016 but, the amount of anime I watch and have watched is so much that personally, I would think I have been watching anime for around 5 years or so.

I spend WAY to much time on anime and like, I basically don't do much else than play the occasional RPG or so, other from watching anime, that is.

nearly two years of my life (one year, ten months) of life wasted on animation. and I basically started at a very young age, when I was able to sit up and focus on tv, thus my animation viewing began.

For me, it requires a bit of explanation.

I first started with DBZ when I was 7-8. When I was about to finish elementary I had to stop because of family related problems.

During my last year of Junior High (2003-2004), I got interested in .hack//Sign. For me, it still one of the most unique animes I've seen, but not recommended for everyone.

2005 is where I first saw Naruto on US Broadcast. From there it slowly trickled in; I got back into DBZ, then I watched IGPX. Zatch Bell once every now and then. Then came Inuyasha. Bleach then followed suit in 2006.

It was in late 2006 is where I jumped ship from US Mainstream media to anime. It was right around this time is where I began to watch anime on a regular basis. Wherever I can watch them. Remember that this was before online streaming that we have today became common place.

And from 2009-present is where I currently stand when it comes to watching anime. Online streaming and TV Broadcasts/DVR Recordings.

So basically, on a regular basis, I've been watching anime for about 11 years.

I first started watching anime with anything resembling regularity was when I was 15. Cowboy Bebop and Rurouni Kenshin were my gateway animes. I wasn't super into anime, but I enjoyed watching them. Then about a year and a half later... I just stopped cold. It would be over eleven years before I watched anime again. This was at AB15. But even after this I really hadn't caught the anime bug. I think I finally got it about three months ago.
