I hate when an enemy faction is ruthless and inhumane but the good faction refuses to kill anyone from the enemy faction.

Relationships keep getting dumbed down. Anime in the 80s could depict teens drinking, smoking, sneaking into nightclubs, dancing, kissing etc. (including the negative aspects of the behavior). Now days they have to add extra dialog to make it clear the kid is drinking "juice". This from the same country that gave us tentacle porn.

I love anime so much but honestly, I CANNOT STAND weak female characters that always have to be saved by someone. They are basically useless and just get in the way. I mean, I get that their weakness makes people want to "protect" them, but CMON. It kinda ruins some animes for me :\

Idk if that's just me or not, but that's one thing I have trouble tolerating.

I started watching Gate recently, and was thinking this. Now, the JSDF does kill plenty of them in battle, but they also let a lot of pretty despicable characters get off scott free.

The primitives on the other side of the Gate basically have a "vae victis" sentimentality, and the JSDF kind of lets them get away with it pretty often. Honestly, a lot of the Empire's thoughts on warfare and prisoners of war were like the Japanese Imperial Army in WW II, but the JSDF acts a little too goody goody in many instances.

I'll spoiler tag some of the examples

I don't particularly hate anything about anime. There is stuff that certainly gets annoying. There are too many tropes in anime though. Almost every Tsundere act the same. I've seen several lately, where the main tsundere of the series has some sort of catch phrase too (e.g. "I'll turn you to cinder", or "I'll kill you a hundred times") Then of course the slap stick violence. I usually don't like it when an anime I have enjoyed for quite a while has a really depressing ending either.

DEFINITELY the fans. I hate the stereotypes surrounding the normal fans because of the people who don't have interests outside of anime.

Annoying voices, high pitched screaming.

Every battle cliche from any shonen ever. Especially the talking no jutsu.

Filler.

Fan service just for the shits and giggles. Otaku pandering is gross.

HUGE, HUGE Cthulhu tits. So gross.

Lolis.

The fact that no main character besides Shinichi from Parasyte, and Spike from Bebop have gotten laid in their respective shows. Even these harem shows don't get the MC laid, he just has 6 shitty tsunderes vying for his seed but they won't do him. Alright alright.

I can also add random convoluted sci-fi philosophy thrown in, like in Ghost in the Shell.

I agree with a lot of the points already made. But what tends to bug me me overall is the industry's tendency towards being overly cliché and tropey. Where you feel that in both plot and characters they've just gone through a checklist of must-haves that they know will appeal to a certain market. Aside from that it gets boring, and that they may be misjudging the market, it doesn't really allow for much innovation. Most other media (books, tv, etc.) have their clichés and tropes, but usually add something new or different in the mix to spice it up and make it innovative, at least for a while.

Not saying that there aren't some good innovative anime out there. I just wish that even with what is supposed to be the "light" entertainment stuff, the less serious projects, that it wouldn't have that strong sense of anime written to recipe with almost no thought at all. Those animes where you can predict the entire thing from the get go.

1. Too long series like Naruto, Dragonball or Onepiece. For me they are overrated.

2. Long fights with useless talking to enemy, the most annoying thing in Naruto.

When a Japanese VA voices an American/Canadian/British character, and tries to speak in English. Even when the lines are gramatically correct and not cringworthy engrish, they still have a incredibly thick Japanese accent. It really takes me out of it when a character is described as being a native English speaker only to have them open their mouth and sound like a native Japanese speaker who got a D in English class in high school
