So I've been in a dilemma for awhile when it comes to collecting manga. I've been wondering whether to collect regular volumes or 3-in-1 volumes when it comes to long running series. This is a list of pros and cons I've got so far.

Regular volumes

Pros- better paper quality/color covers

Cons - more expensive/takes up more shelf space

3-in-1 volumes

Pros - cheaper/3 volumes in 1/takes up less shelf space

Cons - cheap paper quality

What do you guys think? What do you prefer?

Actually the Omnibus format (paper Quality Etc.) varies by Company, for example Dark Horse's Oh! My Goddess Omnibuses are in a larger format and still have the color pages.

While 7 Seas Freezing 2-in-1 volumes have regular paper and only have the color pages on the first volume that's covered.

I like the omnibus format better, but it all depends on how the publisher handles it.

The 3 in ones have to be vary well made which most are not. Also they have to be bigger then a normal volume height wise and have GREAT binding. I like 2 in ones the best because they have a lot of hard covers. Also like Viz sig because if hiw the paper feels and books look.

The Viz Big editions were awesome, nice thick paper, colour pages and great spine art. Then when they released 3in1 One Piece, not sure what happened. It's like they cut back and it looks like any regular manga except thicker.
