Both are good, but the differing art styles is interesting

Newer stuff is more colorful. Even with a more subdued color palette, it's still more colorful. This makes dark, mature, grim, etc. shows harder to pull off effectively. It is useful for stuff like Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, where dark but still bright works perfectly for the juxtaposition though show makes of the genre.

Plus, newer stuff is generally more fluid and detailed with fight scenes, which is understandable given the general evolution of the industry.

But the old stuff still does well. The darker tones help with some stories (obviously not all).
And most of the old anime had a different style of action. Generally slower (both the characters physically and in presentation), guns were used more, and less super powers. See Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Beepop, and Trigun.

I love modern anime. Older anime had pretty generic plots. Though I'm still waiting for Madhouse to do Yu Yu Hakusho. Nothing wrong with the old one. Just would love to see it with modern animation

A little bit of both. 1995-2005 was a good decade.

I like both to be honest. I can't really decide one over the other as they both had some good and some not so good series. I'm leaning more towards the modern just because the artwork is just a little better and sometimes a little more better story line.

I guess modern anime since I've hardly watched any older anime.

There is more "forgettable" anime passed 2000 then there was anime before 2000. But to me it's basically what is good is good.

I do not have a preference, though I compliment the older animations that were illustrated by hands, which I enjoy considering the time and devotion going in to drawing the foreground and the background. I have read that some individuals believe that the plot and settings of the current anime series are less gore filled and dark, but I am not certain of the difference since I do not want many series to compare.

It depends on the anime for me. I don't really care when it was released as long as I like it.

Really the 2000-2010 era so I guess "modern" although I really don't like the plethora of half finished series we get.
Sure we had less of a selection and less shows of note but the ones that were good remained timeless classics.
