Just my 2 cents, I doubt it's so much actual hated of racism, sexism or homophobia, as it is a counter response to being force fed ideals in a sub culture known for escaping reality, and generally being pretty non-conforming. Anime is not really mainstream (compared to more 'normal' American television.) and I would not be surprised if many who watch it are not exactly happy with 'normie' social standards.

I already get irked enough as it is when people tell me anime and video games are 'stuff for children' and to 'grow up'. (when at least half of the stuff I own is rated T or higher... and at least 5% is AO or modded to that way.) Last thing I need when I'm online having fun is to be reminded of the shit show that is current year western politics, where deciding if trans should be allowed to use bathrooms they think they are gendered as is more important then fixing the quickly growing bum problem in our city. Because why put effort into a real, hard to fix problem when we can make up a fake problem that is super easy to fix that will generate easy tax payer dollars to write a couple of stupid lines into a law book.

You really want to fix that problem? Just go piss or shit and don't give a fuck about anyone else in the room.

So true, it is not like an entire movement is attacking things we love or anything.

Okay seriously, maybe I do not spend time in horrible forums.. but... come on. I do not view many of these people as horrible people as you want to paint them. Me personally I am indifferent to all the crap you said "weebs" are guilty of. However, that is in and of itself an act of hate because I could not give two s*#[email protected] So because I do not care I am some how hateful?

Regardless, at the end of the day the majority of "weebs" are adapt at the internet. The information super highway, so to speak. Whenever some new scare comes out we can go find all the blog posts and videos about it. Then we can formulate our own judgements. Fortunately a lot of us will form a judgement that goes counter to the "correct" judgement. Which makes us hateful... it is really just an annoying circle of pointlessness really.

I noticed this too, and was surprised. Weebs or just anime fans in general are outcasts in a way, and in spite of the community knowing this, assisting in making an outcast of other people is hypocritical lol. As for a why? I cannot say tbh. I thought that out of any community, this would be the one that'd accept any and all, and not be prejudiced. But that's just unrealistic, and it was naive of me to even think something like that exists on this earth lol.

I think you're just looking for some that doesn't exist. It's like saying all gamers are racist because of the 12 year old kids with a mic. It's to broad to generalize a whole demographic of entertainment

no heterophobic ? If you want to be transparent and fair.. It's a trend that you can't deny.

there are those who will always be vocal-- especially when they failed to see eyes to eyes with others-- similar to how disgruntled employees will retaliate against the company after they were fired..

sexist, racists, -phobes.etc.. these accusations are the norm now a day... just be sure to list all of them-- not just select few..

Funny, iam surprised at how many left wingers and PC people and SJW's and gays and trans like anime?
Iam shocked by how many like that are at the forum.
Iam not shocked that people of all races and all opinions like anime but i never knew that so many anime fans were the other things i mentioned above.

I dont think many actual racists like anime. You'd have to be a retard to like anime yet be a racist. Well unless you're Japanese of course lol
And how could a weeb be a racist?? Isn't a weeb someone who is obsessed with Japan and everything Japanese and believes and expresses that Japanese everything is better than everything else?

yup you're right to a degree.

obviously not everyone with an anime avi is racist... but per capita it sure looks like compared to people with their selfie avis, Sports avis and celeb avis, etc, that anime avis are generally more right leaning conservatives than others.

and of course not all the conservative anime avi guys are racist. most are good friends of mine knowing i'm black and all, but on the conservative side of things people are generally less inclusive of other races and etc. and being on twitter you find a bunch of them. anime avis who want to kill off muslims and jews. anime avis who hated my Black Rem avi (like why do you care). lot of them with maga hats photoshopped on. it was so bad that i had to put "Obama fan"on my twitter bio so people would stop assuming the red ATLANTA FALCONS hat on my avi was a TRUMP HAT

if i had to give it a reason its probably 4-chan, which we all know started out as an anime site itself. 4-chan we all know is like right wing cesspool of the internet and thats generally where most of those guys come from

I have seen a lot of posts, threads, and comments on Crunchyroll/other anime sites and there always seems to be a common theme: Many people who watch anime tend to have negative opinions on races other than their own, on women, on people that identify as homosexual, and on transpeople.

Obviously, not everyone is like this and this post isn't to demonize people who are. I am just genuinely curious why so many people are.

As a straight male living in the U.S., I would definitely say these things don't affect me personally but I see them as extremely important and we should all care about them.

A comment explaining why would be appreciated. I am definitely looking forward to hearing some interesting opinions!

As someone who does not frequent the forums, I am curious: how many think the OP is trolling and how many think the CodyJJ means all of what he says in his post?

Key words like "weeb", "racist", "sexist", "homophobic", and "transphobic" are all buzzwords of (at best) dubious merit and at worst blatant attempts at manipulating the situation through language. Based on the words histories and their usage, I generally think poorly of those using them... and when someone whom I might agree with tries to coin a similar contrary term, I have to remind myself that it still sounds stupid. XP

Anyway, peeking at CodyJJ's profile, I think the answer is pretty obvious. Otherwise, the question has already been answered well.

Have a good weekend, folks, regardless of your personal views.

Because shitposting offensive material became a pastime on certain boards, and then became a hobby by a vocal minority as a means to "fight sjws".
