  • Excellent series with some thought provoking themes
Amazing pacing, intriguing backstory which was explained adequately eventually (but could still be expanded upon for future seasons), clear and thought provoking themes, likable characters, and very well written scores. Not the same as Fate/Zero or the likes, but definitely a higher-up in the extremely solid series club.

    Recommended. tin-can/10.

  • Great original story
Excellent show. The story line is actually original, and I never could tell what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed this series, and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the sci fi steampunk type animes. I was very disappointed when I realized I reached the end of the series.

  • A superb anime, with great action, beautiful characters and a thoughtful theme!
The very first episode takes you quickly into the main subjects, which is the conflict between humans and aliens, whose identity you will discover later. The main character, Ledo, is cold but he grows from a soldier to a well liked boy with emotions. The key to his change is Amy, a very beautiful girl, who charms you in every episode.

Ledo's partner and backup is the fantastic Chamber, an A.I. ...

  • Brilliant & Beautiful
A beautifully animated, brilliant, true science-fiction story about what it means to be human - both for the individual and the species.

The animation is achingly beautiful, yet never over powers the story. And that's the same with the characters. They are normal people who find themselves in an extraordinary situation.

  • A good watch, in a "Knights of Sidonia" kind of way
Really interesting take on the post-apocalyptic, mech vs. space parasite kind of anime. It had its fanservice-y moments, and the main chick is mostly useless (par for the course). However, the midseason reveal was definitely unexpected and last episode was great.

If you've seen Knights of Sidonia, you will definitely notice the similarities between these two anime--from the space parasite to ...

  • The mad feels on this show
This show is so awesome. I binged on it and felt so sad when it ended. The beginning is sort of weird but it gets so good! One thing I really appreciate about this show is how relatable some of the circumstances are and how they apply literally or metaphorically to life and blah blah you get me XD Just watch it

  • Absolutely Loved It!
In my opinion, I feel like the negative reviews are far too harsh! I will admit the transition between the epic battle scene in episode one to the peaceful life the main character encounters on the Gargantia fleet was a bit of a shock at first, but I was not disappointed in the slightest. Yes, the action scenes are scarce, and we instead see a focus on the meaning of being human, but that's the ...

  • Reprogramming a soldier
A soldier from a galactic war is separated as part of a gate jump, and ends up on a world with a much lower technology level. The anime covers his trip from a emotionless soldier, to a more humane person who can appreciate the good things in life including love.

Some good combat, and good story, as you understand how he became who he was, and who he will become.

On route to this he ...

  • Overall "good" needs character development and script re-work
I did enjoy this series, however I think it had a lot of potential to be phenomenal rather than just good. The series is lacking in character development and has a lot of weird interactions between characters that are pointless and very unnecessary. I definitely think the script could use some re-working. But overall I don't regret watching and will probably check out the sequel when it comes ...

  • My first anime and still a favorite
Gargantia was the first anime I ever fully watched.

If you like sci-fi or fantasy animes, this one is for you. It goes much deeper than the typical superficial anime and explores questions of human nature in addition to the personal arcs of each of the characters. Mild fan service, though it still present.
