Giant Squids + Giant Robots = Awesome
Somehow this show manages to combine space combat, a post-apocalyptic future, giant squids, giant robots AND a heart-warming buddy story of self-discovery. It also has refreshingly creative designs for both the interstellar civilization and its enemies, and also for the waterworld. Beautiful backgrounds and high quality animation. So awesome.

    Very different than expected
So I started watching this expecting a whole lot more of a mecha/action series than I actually got. Not that I'm complaining about that. Visually, this show is certainly nice to look at, and the action scenes that are in it do a good job.

It's just that this is much more a science fiction series than a mecha one. It actually asks some questions about genetic alterations, AI, and the interaction ...

    Fascinating Anime but Developed Slowly
In the distant future, in a galaxy far far away. Humankind has advanced beyond imaging and has created a civilization adapted to space and everybody's' hair is silver. But mankind faces extinction for they are constantly fending off alien life forms called The Hideauze. And so we meet our main character a 16 year old soldier named Ledo, trained from birth by the Galactic Alliance to fight against ...

    LightHearted Mecha Any One?
when I started watching this I had no idea what to expect other than it was some how a mecha, and I was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend watching this if you are looking for some lighthearted feel good mecha anime. The story is a little hard to pick up from the first 2 episodes but becomes very obvious around episode 5, A misplaced soldier find himself by living with in the ocean nomad ...

    Open seas meets outer space.
When I heard that Gen Urobuchi was the writer behind Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, I felt a good omen was coming my way. The mastermind behind Puella Magi Madoka Magica, my favorite magical girl series of all time, has come out with a new work, and this one is incredibly recent.

So you can tell right now, that my expectations were incredibly high. Being a mecha anime doesn't help things ...

Thoughtful Science Fiction combined with anime tropes
Will be one of the best anime of the year! Not just another Reluctant Pilot, Giant Robot, and harem of scantily clad women. Although it has all of those too. Scratch the surface and it becomes both coming of age story and an exploration of utopian/dystopian government, the consequences of war, and trans-humanism.

    Very entertaining :)
I think this is a very entertaining anime. Love the voices, the visuals, and the plot. The story keeps me coming back for each episode I just love the humor that is subtly put in here as well. Can't wait for more

    Gargantia on the blue planet
I just finished this 13 episode series, I'm not sure if its completely finished, but there is definitely room to keep going. I feel like if this series was 24 episodes it would be perfect. Gargantia starts off in this epic space battle that can be a little off putting if your not into the whole technical jargon and explosions. Once Ledo reaches earth is when the anime really begins to unfold, so ...
