    Great Hook! A must watch!
If you are into any kind of sci-fi (even if you are not), this show is a must watch. The character designs and story are top notch. The premise had my brother, a friend, and myself hooked within the first half of the episode and was doubly reinforced in the second half.

The first episode touches on a number of points ranging from self-preservation to self-sacrifice and I really enjoyed how they ...

    Well, this was really unexpected!
After watching a few of the other newly 'released' animes on here...I've been sorely disappointed by most of them. They failed to catch my attention or stand out in anyway. This anime? Good lord! It's THE best First Quarter anime of 2013 to be released so far as it stands above the other April releases (As of the date this was originally posted) by a tremendous amount.

    It's beautifully ...

    This could be something special
I don't normally watch much mecha anime but this first episode was incredible. Interesting, coherent plot (so far)... solid voice acting and script... and the animation is GORGEOUS. Bring on episode two!

    Amazing First Episode
This truely has the making of the best new anime of the season! The plot seems simple, but still bold in ways other mech animes failed to do so. Even people who don't like mech animes could still watch this anime.

    Amazing. As simple as that
Been Looking forward to this and a few others. From the looks of it, it already seems like an epic series. Interesting storyline, great art work, all aspects of a good anime are here. But of course with an epic series comes the unbearable anticipation

  • Another awesome sci-fi series with a terrific story
This anime series is another sci-fi favorite after I watched it. I was going to watch it on Netflix, but I had bought the series on DVD instead.

It has been a long while since I had finished the series, so all I could remember is that during a battle in farthest reach of space, a young soldier named Ledo and his Machine Caliber (an artificial intelligent, automated, humanoid-shaped battle ...

  • I loved this anime!!
It was definetly one of the more unique animes that i watched and i loved the characters and interactions. I dont usually watch many mech animes and of the ones i have watched this one was among the top. The main characters had an interesting relationship and even the culture of this show was interesting and kept me wanting more

  • I would love a second season...
But mostly do help me decide if I really like this one or not... I don't think the central conflict ever really worked, but it was also weirdly rushed by the end of the season, and nothing really gets properly figured out. The setting is great, the connected independent and severable boats above a mystery underworld, is a great space to explore some key political philosophy questions about mutual ...

  • Simply, a great piece of art.
Though embedded in a world of battling mechas and mysterious ships, Gargantia is the tale of a young man venturing out into a new world and discovering himself. I watched this a few years ago and found it simply impeccable. Definitely give this a watch.

  • An amazing mix of mecha and fish out of water story tropes.
I can't lie. The first episode was hard to sit through, even as a long time fan of mecha anime. However, every episode after it is pure gold. The characters tend to be relatable and those that aren't have enough depth to make up for it. While not entirely ground breaking, the story has a few twists that mesh well with the pacing. The three leads (Ledo, Amy, and Chamber) mix and work well to create ...
