  • An amazing mix of mecha and fish out of water story tropes.
I can't lie. The first episode was hard to sit through, even as a long time fan of mecha anime. However, every episode after it is pure gold. The characters tend to be relatable and those that aren't have enough depth to make up for it. While not entirely ground breaking, the story has a few twists that mesh well with the pacing. The three leads (Ledo, Amy, and Chamber) mix and work well to create ...

  • Excellent short history
Excellent short history. It is important understand difference between human and be human. This kind of history invite us to think on this issue. Cooperation and brotherhood as same race is the clue to survive in the future. I hope that author create a second part.

  • Didn't expect much, absolutely loved it
I heard about this series a bit randomly and decided to take a look. First thing I noticed is the great art and character designs. The characters are lovable and the plot asks very interesting questions. The main protagonist comes from a different world and knows only war, but earth is very different to what he knows and he starts questioning what is his purpose. We see the character change a lot, ...

  • Really liked the anime
It was kind of different. I actually liked it.

The language thing was cool, and how the locals fly those air gliders so casually.

I would definitely watch a second season of this anime for sure though!!

  • Great Anime, Worth Your Time to Watch
This show really drew me in. It has a rich, mysterious world (don't read the synopsis, it kind of spoils it) and I came in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The animation is smooth and the characters are likable and believable. My only complaint is there aren't more episodes. I want to know what happens next! Definitely worth a watch.

  • A Good Anime that's Almost Amazing
The best part of Gargantia for me is the ridiculously vivid colors. Character's eyes, the ocean, everything pops off the screen. The premise is interesting enough and played to my love of a scavenging post-apocalyptic future. On the downside, it feels like somethings were never fully explored before being swept aside, and the action is a bit one-sided so don't expect many drawn-out fights to feed ...

  • A Hidden Gem That I'm Glad I Saw
I've been watching not great anime lately (the season wasn't the best) and I found this series. In short, I loved it. I can't really say anymore because I'd miss a lot. There will be times where a character or two annoys you, and one of the final "romances" was a little awkward, but the end was really great. And I'll just say this, if I ever get a dog or build a robot, I'm going to call him ...

  • This series grabbed me
I will tell you how this series made me feel. I felt anxiety and confusion for Ledo. Stranded on a foreign planet not knowing how or if he can leave. I felt caring and love from Amy who so desperately wants to help Ledo and they grow to love each other. Chamber is the most interesting mech I have seen. I felt a sense of place for each character, finding myself interested in every single one. That ...

  • Fun enough, but nothing special
    This is a spoiler-free review.

Overall: 6.25/10 - Gargantia on the Verduous Planet is essentially fun science fiction fluff. While not thought-provoking or particularly engaging, it is nevertheless an enjoyable enough series to watch. The story is predictable, characters are good but not great, and the animation is nice. It's a good series to watch if you are looking for something light. It's ...

  • Great story and art! Must watch!
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet has become a favorite of mine for its great character development and solid plot line. The animation is beautiful, too---and not just the drawing but the colors, too, pull you in with vivid choices. I found myself rewinding and pausing to study the artists' choices. The whole series is worth more than one watch.
