  • Amazing start, the followup is average
So, first things first: Gargantia's first four episodes are absolutely phenomenal. A vibrant, foreign world, a really cool exploration of culture clash, and a neat method of handling a language barrier. Mix in some potent emotional elements, and you have a very strong show.

Unfortunately, it does lose some of its power as the show goes on, and the conclusion of the show winds up as a "shouting ...

  • please make another season!
Unfortunately a second season would be nearly impossible considering how the first season ended. This show was amazing and i think they did pretty good with the animations. As far as the actual story goes i loved hidiaazu and the antagonizing mystery of who they are and where they come from that drags you along throught the season. The answeres to these questions are simply briliant and are filled ...

  • All flash and no substance
The animation is very clean and the premise for the story is interesting. The pace of and execution of the plot left a lot to be desired. For a 13 episode show, spending 2/3 the series focusing on the tortured hero and one dimensional character development seemed like a waste, especially with the revelation near the end. The last few episodes feel rushed, like the series was supposed to run longer ...

  • Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet Review
Amy's flying squirrel is SO CUTE. I want one as a pet. I like Ledo but I think he could be funnier. I like when he's shocked at the end and Grace jumps on his face to get him to let go of Amy. Chamber's mech is cool. I like that they're on earth.

  • Good animation style, misses opportunities the interesting backstory opens up
Animation style is great. Characters look fantastic, although I'm not a fan of the 3d computer generated models of the mechs, but that's completely subjective. The overall backstory and setup to this show is really interesting. When you find out the origin behind the badguys, you really think the show is going to go in a different direction and start getting really good. But It kinda wades around ...

  • "Go to hell, tin can!"
I love everything about this anime. It has action, drama, and a little bit of romance thrown into the mix. I can't get enough of it.
I really hope that another season scones put with Chamber back. And new news on Amy and Ledo relationship! I hope that you guys enjoy it like I did.

Very good, but i think it would have been better as a full 26 ep season
So i decided to start this anime cause the cover peeked my interest for some reason. And after watching the first episode I felt the push to want to know more and it just built on itself (ending up binge-ing in 1 day -_- ). Anywhoooo, The story is very well made, the character development is pretty much textbook and the world i found very rich. But having all of those qualities made the story ...

  • Imaginative, stunning, and full of heart
Combine one part Ghibli film, one dash Mecha anime, a pinch of WaterWorld, and a whole lot of heart. What you get is Gargantia.
This is a beautiful series, with plenty of gorgeous scenery and a rich cast of characters occupying a detailed world. It takes the classic Fish Out of Water narrative, placing a pilot from a space civilization at war with an alien race and dumps him into a sea-faring ...

  • Exciting Envision Of The Future & Great Characters
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet was one of my most loved series of all time, the interesting envision of future life on earth was a great change of scenery from regular sci-fi shows. The characters and plots are developed quickly, and you grow attached too even the unpleasant and cocky ones. Highly recommend, great start and finish.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet: Urobuchi Indoctrinated Youth with Social Commentary!
One of Gen Urobuchi's works, not much to be said. But the Title's flashy. Like seriously, I didn't know Verdurous was even a word. A new word at that.

To put in a review, short and sweet, Gargantia is a sort of political and social commentary directed at Teens and those in their early 20's. Gen Urobuchi stated that the intent of the anime would be to convince the youth that "going out into ...
