  • You may not have seen this kind of thing before
I went into this expecting a mecha show.
The mech battle at the beginning is one of the best looking I've seen in quite some time. . . that's not really what the show is all about though.

    But hey, that's alright.

There are many who say the middle of this show is boring. . . .and it is if you go into it expecting a mecha show.
What it is is a Sci-Fi/Slice of Life show. . . .how often do ...

    Don't worry, it's not Gundam!
My first impression coming into this was, "Oh boy, another Gundam ripoff..." Boy was I wrong! This show follows the life of Ledo as he is suddenly thrown into an entirely different world than the hardcore military world that he has lived all of his life.

This show really explored a lot of deep themes such as young Ensign Ledo who is confronted with the choice between following his duties ...

  • Gargantia - A Review
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet was a deceptively short anime. It sets itself up to be at least a full season (26 ep), but succinctly concludes on episode 13.
Despite this, I was not at all disappointed at the quick ending. It did not overstay its welcome and created just enough character development in the main characters so as to show an over arching evolutionary path.
    Faced with the ...

Good show, good story, complete arc.
Animation is nice and clean, typical of the modern styles. It isn't anything artsy or spectacular though.

Music is blended well with the show, but I'm not buying the soundtrack.

Characters are pretty well done for a 13 episode show. There was not time for a great deal of depth, but all the major characters had personalities and traits that stood out. They were definitely not flat.

    The ...

Thoughtful Science Fiction combined with anime tropes
Will be one of the best anime of the year! Not just another Reluctant Pilot, Giant Robot, and harem of scantily clad women. Although it has all of those too. Scratch the surface and it becomes both coming of age story and an exploration of utopian/dystopian government, the consequences of war, and trans-humanism.

  • Gargantia...is.....awesome....
Garganatia is one of the best series I've ever seen. Really cool universe, great story, and awesome character development. If you don't like mecha anime like myself, don't let the mech on the cover scare you away. This show is more than worth your time.

I think this is a very entertaining anime. Love the voices, the visuals, and the plot. The story keeps me coming back for each episode I just love the humor that is subtly put in here as well. Can't wait for more

    Gargantia on the blue planet
I just finished this 13 episode series, I'm not sure if its completely finished, but there is definitely room to keep going. I feel like if this series was 24 episodes it would be perfect. Gargantia starts off in this epic space battle that can be a little off putting if your not into the whole technical jargon and explosions. Once Ledo reaches earth is when the anime really begins to unfold, so ...

  • Like the main character, you will fall in love with Gargantia
This was such a good anime. I just wish it wasn't so short!

This was such a good series. I really connected with it, just like Ensign Ledo did with Gargantia.

At first he approached everything with skepticism, which is what I did as well. Going in I expected a 5/10 average at best anime to watch to kill some time. I kept pointing out flaws in my head.

    Going forward though, that ...
