  • not your averege mecha anime
The anime started off as any other mecha, but quickly takes a turn to something new. Meca versus its roots and returns to it orgin to learn where it all started and what happened to the original population that survived. Now theres a goog ground to build something great upon! I'm looking forward to how this anime might develope! --- and what will happen when Chamber runs out of fuel/gas/energy - ...

Super interesting. I wonder how the plot will develop.
This series is certain surprise. I didn't expect to like it this much. I seriously wonder how all plot will develop. Am only giving this show a 4 because I consider some of the ecchi fan service scenes unnecessary. Other than that I have no complains. I wish to see some more characters from the space universe . Such an awesome series I watched all the first 8 episodes in one day!!

A lot of credit goes into this Anime.
The plot is set in the future. There are a race of aliens, called Hideauze, threatening the Humankind that are living in space. During a battle, Ledo, gets caught with his combat suit (filled with onboard AI named "Chamber"), in a spacial distortion and awakes on a Planet filled with Seas.
Now, I have problems labeling this series as just Mecha. Honestly, that is dumbing it down too much. ...

    Mononoke-Mech Masterpiece : )
Avatar, Fern Gully, Princess Mononoke. It's all the same. They all have a mythical nature girl look and story. Yet a great anime production team does it once again by fuzing these ideas with Mech Sci-Fi and making them blossom into the beautiful Gargantia On The Verdurous Planet.

Amy is an eager mail carrier. She hang-glides around a beautiful Waterworld like environment. This colorful bird ...

I very much dislike this anime's themes
Personally I really hate the let's all be friends and save the planet mentality; this show really pushes those themes down your throat. However, i think that the plot is interesting, therefore, i am somewhat drawn to it. The themes do keep annoying me heavily though. If you are similar minded to me then you will have a hard time watching this show. Also, it is a more lighthearted show in general, ...

    First thoughts... were wrong
At first I didn't think much of this anime by the cover and the first few minutes of ep1.

Well I guess "Don't judge a book by its cover" is right - after the first episode it really gets interesting and you get attached to the characters.
I rate this 5 stars, for the great turn around do.o

  • This show just keeps on impressing...Best CR show of spring 2013
    (Review through ep. 9)
Gargantia is a series that I started off mildly liking because of its setting and character designs, but the treatment and story make it a truly special experience.

My first impression of Gargantia was that the animation, color palette and character designs were extremely attractive and the water world setting seemed like an interesting place. Most post-apocalyptic SF is ...

Another triumph from the creator of Madoka
Gargantia, similar to Madoka, takes a fresh and illuminating look on genre grown somewhat stagnant in anime: mecha. Gargantia's pacing arguably suffers the same fate as Madoka's (in other words, if you thought Madoka had a slow start, you'll feel similarly with Gargantia). For me, this is a non-issue, as Gargantia takes careful time to immerse you into the new planet and the highs and lows of its ...
