An adventure melodrama that will grow on you
A whole new take on the "stuck in an MMO" story. Where other tales focus on the action, violence, or tactics of RPG's, Grimgar takes the focus to another direction, focusing heavily on character personalities and drama. In all honesty, if you aren't a fan of a more serious type of drama this will definitely not be for you. For those who do enjoy tender scenes and moments of valor and ...

    Grimgar: Live the Game
Look at the advertising art, and just what feelings does it scream to you? Poignant, melancholic, optimistic, struggle-filled, bright...each character conveys a feeling and they are all true of this show.

Grimgar is a show people want to hate because of the whole "stuck in an MMO" trope that is so easily picked on by some of the less-refined reviewers, and it starts off somewhat slowly as well. ...

    Quick thoughts on GFA
GFA is a slow burning show that emphasis on character development, and character emotions. You get a true feel of their psyches as they are well fleshed out characters and the plot is very great from start to finish. 10/10 Great anime worth watching.

    A Grown Up SAO........Well Worth a look.
It's actually not bad for a generic Wake up in a RPG style world with monsters and magic.

The Animation is gorgeous the characters are likable, it has emotional grown up episodes early on and doesn't resort to comic slapstick or other comic interruptions to try and lighten the mood, it does have some light fanservice but nothing too extreme or takes away from the rest of the show.

    It's from ...

    Best anime of the season!
This is not a usual anime. It takes a cliche story and shows how it would be in a more realistic way, like when you were playing dungeon and dragons and needed to be careful with every move, and how hard it was to level up. Now imagine you are playing the same old D&D but with a young character who came from the real world and without memory, this is exactly what you will see in this anime.

    Different and Awesome!
This is not your typical anime fantasy where the MCs grow exponentially in power and just face roll most of the anime. The MCs are like normal people, weak at first, but slowly grow and adapt, with deep human issues. I loved the characters they are very diverse, the feels are heavy, and the Art is freaking awesome!!!

Very different style that I really liked. I super dig this anime.

Level 1 Dungeons & Dragons Anime
Ever wonder what an anime would be like if it tried to accurately display what would happen to level 1 D&D (Dungeon & Dragons) characters just starting a campaign. Hardship, pain, loss, and strong character development are quick one word descriptions for this show. All of which usually describe early D&D campaigns. Also the animation is stellar with very fluid fight scenes. The art direction is ...

If a group of overly serious people played D&D...
Grimgar doesn't try to cater to everyone; if you're looking for a show with a deep central mystery or over-the-top action sequences, you won't find it here. It also must be acknowledged, it starts very slowly and is often predictable. If you stick with it though, you'll find an emotional story of loss, growth, and camaraderie with characters you'll come to love, even in such a short ...

Grimgar gives us a deep look into what it is like for someone living in a fantasy world forced to hunt monsters to live. Its more than just good combat scenes it delves into the emotions and relationships of these characters how they are surviving and what the hardships are doing to their psyche. To sum up this show this is a show where we see a group of people struggling to live and masterfully ...

    Utterly fantastic take on fantasy
Grimgar has some of the best character development ever seen in an fantasy anime. Characters are neither overpowered or flat in the beginning they struggle to take down a single goblin which isn't just a "generic" monster but a living breathing sentient being which wants to live as much as they do. Rather than running mindless towards are heroes he cries in fear in the possibility of his own ...
