2. Her Background

Ai had the dream of becoming a singer since she was little. The dream was made by her and her mother together. Her mother was her only family since she had lost her father when she was just a child. However, Ai's mother died before she became a famous singer. Ai was later adopted by the Kamashima's family.

Now she is singing not only for her mother, who has passed away, but also for people who listen to her song, wishing world peace.

Before she became a famous singer, she established a goal--to perform 1,000 times on the street--and accomplished it after she became a great singer. She also learned to play the piano when she was only 3 years old.

Her voice is called "angel's voice". At first, there were only a few people listening to her song on the street, however, gradually she attracted a lot of people. Ultimately, her last street performance in Shibuya attracted a great number of people.

3. Her Career



From the age of 16, Ai started to perform on the streets. In 1999, Ai debuted as an Enka singer but it didn't took off. In 2003, she and Nao started a duo band, "I Wish". In 2005 however the group was dissolved so that Ai could concentrate on her solo career.

4.1 Her Talents

Ai Kawashima writes and compose her own songs. She can also play the piano.

4.2 Music For Game

Her music was used as an opening theme to the Japanese release of the video game, "Shining Force Neo", titled "Zetsubou to Kibou"「絶望と希望」, from her sixth maxi single.

Ai Kawashima Ai also sang the theme for a video game for the Nintendo DS by Square Enix. The song is "Door Crawl" released on 2007/12/12. The game title is “Chocobo’s Dungeon: Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu.” You can know more about the game by going to this site: http://www.chocobo.com/tokiwasureds/

4.3 Music For Anime

Her song "Compass" was used as the theme in the 8th One Piece movie, an anime film.

Her song, スーツケース (Suitcase), from her 14th Maxi Single: 幸せですか/スーツケース (Shiawase desu ka/Suitcase) released on 2007/10/03 is used for a Japanese "Proteca" commercial which is filmed in Thailand.
