Nick stacked the ninth and last plate, time to go.
Wolf had send the group a location for them to meet up asap, but before nick could go he needed to stock up
on healing items.
He looked in his inventory.
One teleport crystal and one to counter paralasis.
Not much left... he thought as he thought back to the last boss fight, he had used all his healing items
in that fight and threw one towards noiki when she was beaten up badly.
He walked into the streets and found a small dark shop.
G'day laddy. what will it be for you? The NPC asked.
His apearance was like a butler, but he had an eyepatch on his left eye.
Let me see your inventory. Nick said.
The NPC showed a list, you ain't gonna find better prices on this floor laddy. He said.
Nick bought 5 poitions and 5 healing crystals, 3 teleport.
When he was done his money pouch was a lot lighter and he was almost set for battle.
You know a good weapon smith by any chance? Nick asked the NPC
You might wanna try mike's down the street to the left, he's got the best gear of this sixt floor, price ain't half bad either.
Thank's. Nick said and walked outisde,
He walked towards the shop that was supposed to be owned by an npc called mike, he looked at the sign but the sand had blown that away ages ago.
God this floor is really in need of some fixing... He sighed as he entered the shop.
Mike was a tall guy, standing even higher then wolf, and the muscles. One would say this NPC had traind to much.
What'll it be stranger? He asked when nick entered.
I need a new sword, something better then this. He gave the smith his current sword.
Mike was a professional, he took the sword and inspected it.
This is a mighty fine sword, you got that from the dragon on the fifth floor didn't you... He muttered.
So you have anything better then this?
I do, take a look at this.
he grabbed something from behind the counter and handed it to nick.
The sword's weight was at least double from his last sword, the blade itself was a black as the night.
Fit's you're armor. Mike said looking at nick in his black coat.
The stats's were impressive.
This would be enough to tackle those legenday monsters without a problem, if nick's level was high enough.
He checked his level and it stood at 15.
Should be enough... Nick thought.
Tell you what, normaly that sword goes for 5k col, but trade it with the sword you had, and it's yours.
What's so special about my old sword?
Rekin i might be able to do something with this, but i'll have to wait untill the right moment. The NPC smiled deviously.
Well, if it makes you happy, you can have it.
Pleasure doing buisness with you. The NPC said and nick walked outside.
He sheathed his new sword on his back and walked towards the designated spot on the map,
He was the first one to arive at the edge of the safe zone.
Now the waiting game begins. he thought as he was keeping a lookout for the other front liners.

Everyone had agreed with Vyse's plan to search the small mountain range he had suggested. It seemed the group seemed set on discovering the legendary beasts, but he had no qualms with that. Of they traveled together they should be safe. Wolf finished explaining the plan and marked where they were to assemble after they stocked up on supplies. With the mention of teleport and healing crystals, Vyse remembered an item he had bought a few floors back that seemed could help everyone if the situation came to it. Before Wolf left, Vyse stood up and got everyone's attention.
"Before you all head out," he started, scrolling through his inventory, "I think I have something that could be very useful if things don't go as planned." He found the item he was looking for and selected it. In his hand appeared a large blue crystal, bigger than the regular teleportation crystal. He placed it on the table for everyone to see. "This is a corridor crystal. It will open a corridor to any point we mark, and it will transport multiple players at once. Only players can pass through it, so if we come across an enemy we can't defeat it will get us all back to a safe point, but it only works one way. If we need to, this crystal can get all of us out of danger without having to use individual crystals." He paused for a moment to make sure they were keeping up, "however, this was incredibly expensive, so I would prefer we didn't use it unless it was an emergency."
He picked up the shining blue crystal and placed it back in his inventory. The contribution was not a big one in the scheme of things, even though it had cost him a large amount of Col, but he hoped the added safety it provided could possibly save someone from an untimely end. With everything he needed to say out of the way, he sat back down and went about finishing the last dregs of his coffee.
We are soldiers, stand or die.
Vyse and Nick offered some advise on where they might go to find the boss, mentioning the mountain range in the distance as the most likely possibility. Everyone had begun to split up into their 2 player squads, but just about everyone was still in the shop.Wolf, after finishing off a whole buffet line of food, decided that the group was taking too long, and began to walk out the shop. As he did, he stopped to readdress the party, telling everyone to stock up on weapons and supplies before meeting him at the checkpoint near the combat zone. Vyse also mentioned to everyone that if worse came to worse, he had acquired a corridor crystal, allowing everyone to teleport at once if things went bad. Galen knew he was making a huge financial sacrifice by offering it for the cause, and felt thankful. Galen then looked at his wears, realizing that he needed to stock up on some more potions and food just in case. He also thought he might buy a sword as well, just in case he had another close range fighter like The Solid Fist to deal with. My spear will be useless against an unarmed opponent like him...at least up close. I might need to buy a blade to balance out my fighting style and keep my opponents off guard.
As Wolf left the shop(luckily not leaving anyone with the tab), Galen wondered how long they had really been there. He pulled up the in-game clock. 2:00pm??? We have spent close to an hour and a half talking??? Galen then began to sigh. Well, its about time Asuna and I got our shopping done before it gets dark. We dont want to fight snakes, scorpions, and sand worms without some kind of light.
Galen then stood up before addressing Asuna. "Well Asuna, you ready to do some shopping?" smiled Galen.
Galen Rigatos, riding out!
The plans had been settled and it seemed like everybody was satisfied with what they were going to do next. They were all told which location to meet at when they were done buying their things and all headed out. Asuna heard Vyse mention that he bought a corridor crystal, which was a very significant investment. She had a few teleport crystals on her already, a healing crystal and a few healing potions. At this hour there was still plenty of time to head on out and further go through the combat zone.
"Shopping?" Asuna sees that Galen was addressing her at the moment. "Yeah sure, as long as it doesn't take too long, i'll accompany you."
"Shopping?" Asuna sees that Galen was addressing her at the moment. "Yeah sure, as long as it doesn't take too long, i'll accompany you."
Galen got the impression that Asuna must have done some shopping earlier that morning. Well, thats what happens when I wake up late. I'm still glad she is willing to spend some time with me.
"Okay! Let's be off then." said Galen as they left <<The Last Stop>>. The sun was really bright overhead as they stepped outside.
"Where do you want to go?" smiled Asuna.
"Hmm...I need to fill up on some potions and food first. Then we can swing by the weapon shop on the way to the combat zone" said Galen.
"Okay" said Asuna.
As the players walked down the street toward the center of town, they discussed their upcoming strategies and how they would fight the boss. Galen was still a little bit confused about the plan, so Asuna explained to him how it would work. There would be around 5 teams of 2, maybe an odd man out depending on who was helping with the raid. The squads would work together, switching in and out to deal with any minions the boss might have, and to catch the boss of guard. They same would work with the party as they dealt with regular monsters, just with a little more freedom of movement and less caution.
As Galen and Asuna passed one of the many food carts darting the streets, Galen noticed something in one of them. Is that what I think it is? he thought. Sure enough, as Galen looked closer it was a rage candy bar!
Galen then sprinted over to the cart like a mad man, interrupting Asuna mid sentence.
"Ohohoho!" yelled Galen. "Asuna, look! I found it! The Rage Candy Bar!"
Galen then looked back to see that Asuna wasnt amused, and looked a little mad for interrupting her.
"Im sorry for interrupting you Asuna!" said Galen with a pleading look. "But this is great! The legendary Rage Candy Bar!" Asuna eventually calmed down, and started to look more curious than ever.
"What's so special about it?" she said with a puzzled look.
"Whats so special about it?" said Galen, as if Asuna ought to know. "This is the LEGENDARY Rage Candy Bar! It was rumored to be in the game, but no one in the beta had found it." Of course supposedly, no one in the Beta ever made it this far, thought Galen. Or at least was actually looking for it.
Asuna then began to laugh at the fact that Galen was so excited about a digital candy bar.
"But its just a candy bar. Isn't it?" she smiled trying to control herself.
"Just a candy bar?" said Galen. "The Rage Candy Bar is the one food item in the game that will never expire! Also, it heals a decent amount of health and stamina, instantly. Which means its much quicker than a potion. Of course its incredibly expensive and rare, or at least I thought it was."
Asuna then began staring at the candy bar closely, as if trying to figure out where it got its special powers from.
"I have to get us some" smiled Galen. He then turned toward the NPC selling the bars. The woman had long purple hair, tied up in a turban with blue eyes. She actually looks kinda cute, thought Galen. But I cant worry about that right now.
"How much are these mam?" asked Galen
"They are 2000 col each" smiled the purple haired NPC.
2000 col!!! thought Galen. Thats expensive. Most candy bars are only 50-200 col at most. Galen then opened up his in game wallet to see he only had enough to buy a few of them, plus he had to save some up for a sword and potions. Damn. I would buy one for the whole party, but I have to have enough for some more wares. I guess I will just buy one for Asuna and I then.
"I will take 2 then please!" smiled Galen, as the NPC handed him a couple.
"Here Asuna" said Galen as he handed her one. "I only had enough for us, so hold on to one. It might save our lives out there if things get bad. It heals about 20% stamina and health instantly, but of course its a one time deal, just like potions. And it has a time penalty on it, so you cant use another healing item within 2 hours after using it, so you have to be careful. But, if you get really low, and you cant escape to safety, use it. It could mean the difference between life and death"
Asuna looked at the candy bar with a new sense of respect. "Ok" smiled Asuna. "Now I see why you got so excited."
Galen smiled, and then the couple left, finding an item shop close by called <<Wares and Tears>>. Its sign was worn out by the sand, but was still barely visible. The architect for this floor is such a smart ass, thought Galen as he laughed. Galen and Asuna stepped inside. The place looked rather put together. Galen knew though that they hadnt much time, so he didnt waste anytime taking it all in. He went straight up to the NPC and asked about some wares.
"Hey, Im looking to buy some potions." said Galen.
"Ok, we have quite a bit actually" smiled the rather plump shopkeeper.
"Just looking for the basic's this time." said Galen as he selected a few health and stamina potions from the list.
"Also, do you have any kind of equipment that might help against poison? I hear there are a lot of poisonous monsters in these parts." said Galen, thinking ahead.
"Sure do" said the shopkeeper. "Ive got some poison resistant rings on sale now if you'd like any"
Galen looked at the rings' stats. Nice. 33% resistance to poison. This will help since my armor only helps agains fire and ice.
"I will take 2 then." said Galen as he paid for the wares and left the shop with Asuna.
After the couple left the shop, Galen opened his inventory and gave Asuna one of the rings. She appeared grateful, but Galen sensed that she was worried about all the money he had spent on her so far.
"Its ok" smiled Galen. "I know you dont want me to pay for everything, but its just my nature. We are partners now, so I will do everything I can to look out for you, financially included. My money is your money, so dont feel bad, ok?"
"Ok. Thank you" smiled Asuna.
Asuna then told Galen that she would pay him back, and when Galen refused, she insisted. She even offered to pay for dinner next time. Galen didnt want her to at first, but after some thought, he accepted. If there's one thing in life I learned...you NEVER pass up free food. thought Galen.
The two then arrived at the weapon shop, which wasnt far from the checkpoint Wolf and the others were waiting at. It didnt seem to have a name, or at least not one that was visible. Galen thought he saw Nick leaving the shop, holding a new sword of his own. As Asuna and Galen walked inside, Galen almost jumped. What the? The NPC running the shop was bigger than Wolf! He was a good 8' tall with short dark hair and bulging muscles.
"Hey there, welcome to Mike's" said the man as he put away a shiny sword. "What can I get ya?"
"Well, I'm an assault spear user, but I was hoping to get a secondary here. Maybe a short sword? I just need something good against blunt attackers. Since piercing weapons cant parry against them, and might even break." Galen knew the pattern. Slashing beat blunt, blunt beat piercing, and piercing beat slashing. Slashing weapons(swords, axes, etc) were fast enough to get around blunt attackers, and also would bend but not break if parried. Blunt attackers like hammers, maces or fists wouldnt be able to be parried by piercing weapons such as knives and spears and would also be able to break piercing weapons very easily. And finally, piercing weapons usually had more reach(spear) or speed(knife) than slashing weapons, and thus were able to parry them faster and break through their guard.
"Aha, I see." said the large man as he scratched his beard. "I have just the blade for you". The large man then reached behind him and dug around till he found the one. The NPC pulled out a hand-and-a-half length cutlass made from a scorpion's tail for the handle, and claw for the guard and hilt. It was impressive in both appearance and in stats. Galen took a quick look and realized the blade was rather heavy. But it swung like a charm.
"I will take it." said Galen as he paid for the sword and left with Asuna toward the checkpoint.
"Hope we aren't the last one's there" laughed Galen as he and Asuna caught up with Wolf and the others.

Black had all of his stuff ready. He had arrived to the floor loaded for bear just in case he had to go into combat unexpectedly. His new side job had him jumping into combat at random times and so he was always walking around like he was just about to enter a boss battle. It was inconvenient for sure but he knew that it would probably save his life someday. He approached the meeting place. Just in case there were others he equipped all his stealth equipment but kept the throwing knives in case he had to do some work. He had levelled them up significantly and so could throw them with almost extreme accuracy though the damage he dealt was still fairly limited. He walked around in the brush, crouched low to go unseen. His hide was decent and so the players that walked near him didn't even notice as he crept by. The meeting place was bare so Black decided to scout the area and practice his tracking skill a little. Then walking around he looked for any traces of anyone, either npc or player that had walked by in the last little bit.
His mind wondering he hoped that one of the girls would be his partner. Frankly his combat suited the rapier users better though he knew that the new girl used a two handed sword. Although less of a compliment he wanted to know more about the people around him. This was going to be a long haul so he wanted to see if the new players were up to it, and if they could do what it might take to get out of this game.

Once Asuna and Galen left the restaurant, they began talking about strategics and the formation of the squads and parties. Even though she was already equipped with everything she needed, she knew that it was too early to head out on her own to the meeting point near the combat zone. While Asuna was speaking, she was interrupted because Galen dashed away and went towards this particular food cart. He looked like a kid who had just found a golden ticket in a willy wonka chocolate bar.
When Galen was telling her that it was a Rage Candy Bear she was very confused. She did not think of anything special about it at all. Usually most people acted giddy over rare, powerful items, not food. He said that it was a rare candy bar that not even beta testers could get their hands on. When the NPC said that each candy bar costs 2000 col, Asuna's eyes widened a bit. That's really expensive for a food item, that money could get you some basic potions.
"The time penalty kind of scares me." She says nervously. Even though the candy bar could provide some instant effects, it sounded dangerous how it would prevent healing effects from other items.
Next they went into an item shop called Wears and Tears. The shop did not look too bad at all. They were immediately approached by the shopkeeper who suggested that they buy this particular ring item. Asuna was surprised yet again when Galen bought her another item. First the dinner yesterday, the candy bar earlier, and now a poison resistant ring. Galen noticed how Asuna felt uneasy about how much Col he was spending for her and offered to pay him back. He refused insistently so she gave up trying to convince him otherwise.
She then offered to take him out to a meal at a restaurant. If there was one thing in life she learned, it's that guys never turn down free food. Afterwards they went to a weapons shop. Galen did mention that he did want to have another weapon besides a spear, since there was only so much one could do with a spear. Asuna was impressed at the array of weapons inside the shop, there were even a few rapiers on display as well. She knew that she would not need any new swords because she had a boss drop item as her current weapon as well as another one called The Piercing Fang.
"Are you going to use your new sword today?" She asks him while they were approaching the meeting point.

Soon after Vyse had told the group about his contribution to the cause, the players began to file out of the small eatery in search of supplies. The time had passed quickly and it was now 2:30. The dregs at the bottom of his coffee cup were cold and bitter, but he finished them all the same. Following the example of his companions he paid his tab and said his goodbyes before heading out into the dust bowl that was the sixth floor. When he opened the door, a wave of heat met him head on. The sun was high in the sky, baking the red dirt that marked the pathways and streets. As he stepped out of the doorway, he opened his menu to take inventory. Not a lot in the way of supplies he thought to himself as he browsed the list before him. It consisted of a handful of low level potions of various types, as well as a few pieces of fruit and some cured meat he had bought on the 4th floor. His wallet was looking worse for ware as well, only consisting of a few thousand Col.
"That should be enough to buy some potions," he sighed, and set off in the direction of the nearest general store.
Soon he came to a small shop that matched the rest of the buildings, old and crumbling. When he entered, a strange looking NPC sporting an eyepatch greeted him.
"Looking to top up your reserves, Or did you have something I might want to buy?" He asked as Vyse approached the counter.
"Just the basics today." He said with a small smile. "A few healing potions and an antidote for now."
The shopkeep nodded and produced the items Vyse had requested, and he was soon on his way towards the mark on his map where he was to meet up with the rest of the group. He soon arrived and was glad to see he wasn't the first or last one to arrive.

"Are you going to use your new sword today?" asked Asuna with a smile.
Galen had been holding on to his new scorpion cutlass since they left the shop. They werent far from the checkpoint, where some of the other players were waiting for them.
"I'm certainly hoping I'll get the chance to use it." said Galen as he swung the blade in wide arcs. "I'm not nearly as good with a sword as I am with a spear, but Ive had some training, and Im hoping this blade will give me the edge where my spear cannot."
Galen continued to make quick slashes, slowly picking up speed with his technique as he judged the weight of the blade and balanced his attack to compensate for it. What Galen didnt want everyone to know, was that he was equally as good with a sword as he was with a spear, or with any other weapon, or even his bare hands. Galen was a master at martial arts, and had been trained in the real world to be able to use any weapon as an extension of his body. He only chose the spear to focus on, simply because it was the one his grandfather taught him how to use, and was the one weapon he was most comfortable with. Of course skill levels in the game didnt transfer from real life, so he was still pretty weak with his sword skills in comparison. That meant he had to train twice as hard in the game as he would in the real world. Galen was also worried about his level. He was only level 10, while most of the other members of the front line were in the teens.
Galen then began looking over his blade one more time before he put it away. This sword...this blade will give me the edge over anyone that tries to hurt me, Asuna, or the party. I doubt a Pk'r will be expecting me to pull out a sword in the middle of a fight if something happens to my spear. I have to be prepared, especially after what Black told us. Galen put away his sword before looking at Asuna, who smiled in return. The two then arrived to the checkpoint, where Galen saw Wolf, Vyse, and a few other players already waiting. Still, there were quite a few missing as well. Galen pulled up his in-game clock. 2:30. Its getting late. Hopefully the rest of the gang doesnt take too long in getting here.

Amon had been spacing out since he tried his worm dish. It looked pretty awful and didn't taste much better. Amon heard bits and pieces of the conversation being spread around the table and then he saw the ping on his map that had just been sent out and that snapped Amon out of his sunken state. "Guess we are gonna go here." Amon thought to himself. Amon had no idea what they were planning on doing besides doing a group quest to kill some legendary monsters.
Amon snapped himself out of it and reluctantly paid for the food that he thought had given him food poisoning or something of the sort then set out with Noiki to go get some new armor. Amon stepped outside and it felt like a heat wave had ran through the floor is a short span of time. The party was on eating for what seemed like thirty minutes but had actually been an hour and thirty minutes and the weather had changed so drastically that had Amon had not expected it at all. "Geez" Amon mumbled as he started walking towards the few shops that the floor had. "Come on Noiki, I have a good feeling about today." Amon said with a smile. "You also might want to give me back that huge coat, that thing will give you heat stroke."
Browsing through the stores looking for something that looked anything like an armor shop and asked Noiki what he missed during the meeting. Amon's head pounded just thinking about that dang "food". After she had filled him in Amon stopped and saw a shop that looked decent enough. Which was a shop that actually looked structurally sound. Amon and then Noiki walked in and found armor everywhere, ranging from speed stats to any kind of resistance that was in the game. Amon walked up to the man behind the counter and greeted them with a south georgia accent. "What can I do ya fer?" the gentleman asked. "What is the heaviest armor you have in here?" Amon asked looking around the shelves. "I think I know just what you are looking for." the shopkeeper said as he walked towards one of the walls. He pulled off a set of armor that looked almost like an angel. It was pure white with what looked like were wings etched into the back of the chest plate. "Uhh, do you have anything a little less fancy?" Amon inquired looking at the armor. The stats were pretty good but focused too much on mobility. "Hmm, what kind of stats were you looking for?" the man asked. "The highest armor rating you have, with strength, and if you have it a good amount of stamina." The innkeeper went to the opposite wall and took down what looked like an ancient spartan outfit but had a full on helmet that didn't show his face. It was a bright white also with armor protruding from every part of the body excluding the neck, elbows, and knees. "This armor is very unique, you see." the shopkeeper said, his voice changing a little bit. This armor will give you a 20% resistance to anything you will face to at least floor 10. Also, it gives you a great amount of strength and unrivaled stamina for your level. The only catch is that it doesn't have the best durability. It will be to be repaired at least once a floor." Amon marveled at the outfit and asked how much it was. "For you, ehhh, 20,000 col." Amon had a shocked look on his face. Amon had been saving up but only had 25,000 col left. "How about 15,000 col?" Amon bartered. "20,000" the man retoreted "Nothing more, nothing less." Amon sighed and paid the main the 20,000 col saddened by his wallet being so low. Amon thanked the man, put on his new armor, then walked outside. "Anything you want to get before we head out Noiki?
Old times are good times
Eww. Noiki was glad that she didn't order anything from that place... Wolf seemed to be enjoying himself, but it seemed that someone like him would eat anything put on a plate in front of him. Everything they had ordered looked like it was still alive.
As soon as they left the restaurant, Noiki felt like she was walking into a sauna. The air was so humid, and the temperature was at least 95 degrees. She said thank you to Amon for letting her borrow his coat before, and gave it back to him. She also took off her red jacket and tied it around her waist.. She was actually glad that she wore summer-like clothes. The team had only sat in the restaurant for an hour and a half, yet it seemed that the seasons had changed. The desert-like setting was finally living up to it's expectations.
Soon after, the two walked into an armor shop, and Amon paid almost all of his money for a set of armor. Noiki didn't really like the look of it... The dealer had said all these amazing things about it, yet it seemed like a huge hunk of metal. It looked like it would be a pain to wear, and apparently a pain to repair as well. She hoped that it really was all that the dealer had said. If it wasn't.... then Amon just wasted almost all of his col for nothing.
"Anything you want to get before we head out, Noiki?" Amon asked after they had exited the store. Noiki jumped a little. She'd been lost in her own thoughts for a moment. She scrolled through her inventory, seeing if she needed to buy anything. She had more than enough weapons, and no armor whatsoever. She really didn't believe in it, though it caught up to her sometimes. She had a few healing crystals and `one healing potion, so it didn't seem like she really needed anything.
"No," she answered Amon, pushing her side bangs out of her face for a moment. Dang, it really was hot.. "Let's go, before we fall too behind everyone else."

Black was walking towards the meeting place after doing a little walk around the bend. As he approached the area he heard the sounds of fighting. As he approached he just saw a wild daer go up in blue shards. Beside it there was a very large scorpion that was standing in an even larger hole in the sand. All the grass in the area was trampled and it looked like a large battle had taken place. The armor of the scorpion was a bright red, almost the color of fire. Black crouched down and used his skills to get the stats of the large enemy. The name was Scorpy, the Legendary Scorpion. Black had to give a moment of thought to the creator of this monstrosity. The name made it seem like a small pet when in reality the stinger alone was almost as big as he was. The legs where bent under the strain of carrying the large beast. This must be one of the legendary creatures Wolf talked about.
"Lucky me" went through his mind as he took out one of his throwing knives trying to find a hole in it’s armor. He was used to fighting other people and was getting out of practice with the automated enemy's. Throwing one knife he managed to stun it long enough to dash back into hiding. He wanted to keep the beast here and wait for the rest of the group to come help but throwing blades weren't going to cut it. He took out his dual daggers, though both of them were long enough to almost be considered short swords. They were a matching set with the pommels being rather plain though one was a jet black and the other one was a vibrant white. On the blades there was an image of a wildcat pouncing on both sides of the blade in their respective colors and on their sheathes there were mirrored images of them as if they were jumping towards each other when the blades where sheathed. Taking them out he looked at the enemy again trying to plan his next move.

"What is he doing?" Wolf thought while watching Black run into hiding. He was tired of waiting for the group and decided to press on a little bit, in an attempt to slay the weaker monsters by himself. "Hey Black!" Wolf shouted across to him but a quick gesture made Wolf realize he shouldn't be too loud. Hopefully he wasn't too late and hopefully things wouldn't go out of hand.
"That thing is gigantic," Wolf said pressing up against a nearby rock. He hadn't startled the creature enough to grab its attention so they were safe for now. "My howl has gotten stronger but I doubt it'll gain the aggro of that monster. My stats are set up for attack damage and armor penetration, but there is no way that I can take that thing on by myself." Wolf watched Black watching the monster as it watched nothing. Wolf then checked his watch, but he didn't have one on. Wolf focused his detection skill. He had to take off his night vision and hide skill for his detection and howl but he felt it was worth it. It was more "Wolf" than his hiding skills, which Wolf isn't much of a runner because he's hard headed like that.
Wolf, using his detection skill, sensed more than just the legendary monster out in the distance. There were multiple minions and few human players nearby, one of which was Black. "So what's the plan?" Wolf said pinging his location to Vyse first, who he trusted was a very skilled fighter. Shortly after, he pinged the location to the rest of the gang. "I need to destroy something, it's been a while and my hands are trembling with excitement."
"It's feeding time. And I'm hungry like a wolf."
With my blade by my side, I'm never alone.
Asuna was thinking about how it might be difficult to master two weapons at once since each weapon required a player to use up one of their 11 skill slots. Everything in this gaming world was all about statistics and numbers. One's strength depended on how high their numbers were.
"The sword will be most useful in close combat situations, so it's a good thing you bought it." She remarks.
She was not sure if she would take on another weapon in the future. Right now she was intent on mastering her one handed sword skill and increasing her speed even more. Asuna took pride in how she handled her rapier. Since she was a girl with a light build, she wanted a sword that would not be heavy, but wanted a sword that would be light and speedy. If there was a PK'er that went after their party, she felt confident in her skills to fend them off, however a person who dedicates their time player killing must be a ruthless and strong person. When Asuna and Galen arrive at the check point they see they were not the first nor the last ones there.
Galen and Asuna had arrived with the rest of the party. But before Wolf addressed anyone, he seemed to be distracted with something out in the combat zone. Galen looked but didnt see anything but some wild daer running around. Must have better tracking skills than me, thought Galen. Soon after, Wolf started to sprint off into the distance, toward a small clearing up ahead. "Hey Black!" yelled Wolf as he continued to run out of sight. I wonder what thats all about? pondered Galen. Ah well, if it was important he would have asked us to come, or at least sent us some directions. Maybe he and Black saw someone they knew.
Shortly after Wolf disappeared, Galen got a message. So did Asuna, and the rest of the group by the looks of it. It was from Wolf:
"Hey guys, guess what Black and I found?! A legendary monster! Might be one of those we need for the quest. It looks pretty tough, but together we should be able to handle it. Meet us up at the point I sent to your map. But come quietly. We dont want to anger this thing. Black and I will try and keep it distracted until you guys arrive."
Galen, Asuna, and the other players eventually arrived near a clearing not too far ahead in the combat zone. There he saw Wolf and Black taking cover behind a large rock.
"Hey Wolf!" yelled Galen as quietly as he could.
Black and Wolf gestured the other players to keep it down, and come closer. As they did, Galen could hear the swish of something large cutting through the air. He also heard a strange kind of squeal coming from behind the rock. When Galen and the other players gathered around Wolf and Black, Galen asked, "What is that thing?"
"Take a look." said Wolf in a low voice.
Galen then creeped around the side of the large rock and couldnt believe what he saw. It was a scorpion, very large, with an almost painted red carapace. Its claws alone looked like they could swallow a man Wolf's size whole. The scorpion was killing a bunch of daer for some reason, almost like it was "eating" them...if that was even possible in SAO. As Galen tried to get a closer look, his foot kicked a rock away from the group of players. Galen could hear a large squeal come from the scorpion as he thought it saw him. He quickly crouched back behind the rock, to avoid angering it more. A loud smashing sound rang overhead as the scorpion's large stinger knocked off a significant chunk of rock behind the players.
"Well guys, what's the plan? How should we fight this thing?" whispered Galen as the scorpion began screeching again. "We have to figure out an attack strategy soon though, because I dont think that thing is going to give us much time."
