Jin Akanishi (赤西 仁, Akanishi Jin?) (born July 4, 1984) is a Japanese idol, singer-songwriter, actor, seiyū and television personality. Akanishi is a member of the popular J-pop boy band, KAT-TUN.
History ...
After seeing Nishikido Ryo (Johnny Jr at the moment) singing in a TV show, Akanishi thought he’d want to be like him. Therefore, he sent the application form and went to the audition on Nov 8, 1998. He did not pass, but after the audition had ended, he went to return the number plate to a person who happened to be Johnny Kitagawa himself; and it was Johnny who told him to stay.
As a Johnny Junior, from year 2000, he was in various groups, like “Beautiful American Dreams” (B.A.D), “Musical Academy Dancing” (M.A.D). He was also a catcher in the charity baseball team J2000.
In 2001, Akanishi was chosen to be a member of KAT-TUN, a unit formed to be the back dancers for Domoto Koichi in “Pop Jam”. And after 5 years, On Mar 22, 2006; he finally debutted with KAT-TUN’s single “Real Face”.
Oct 12, 2006; Akanishi went on hiatus, and flew over to Los Angeles for the sake of studying English. He came back to Japan half a year later, on Apr 19, 2007. On Apr 20, together with the other members of KAT-TUN, he held a press conference in Tonaibou Hotel, to announce his coming back to the show biz.
In October, 2007; Akanishi had his first lead role in the drama “Yukan Club” (Nihon Terebi), for which he was later awarded the title Best Actor in 13th Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix.
