Do not let magik0921 back in this group, do not invite him!
The way I see it the bible is a helpful tool for learning how to become saved. It is also useful for becoming closer to God once you’ve accepted him. However, when it comes to trying to convert people you must first introduce them to God, and then the bible; therefore, I do not intend this group to be evangelical or to bring in atheists to be save. While that is an important thing it is not the purpose of this group. (Hints it is secret.)
This group is to bring us closer to God and raise our awareness of him, and is thus exclusively for Christians. The bible is, in my opinion, a map-and not a road. The road is a way of life, and the map serves no purpose unless you are on the road which it portrays. Giving a map to one too proud to read it wont do anything for them, except give them something to burn. It adds fuel to the flame, and I don’t want that on my hands.
However, I still encourage cordial behavior on everyone’s part. I want us all to be kind to one another and to others. Remember, antireligious zealots are just people themselves. Scorning them will only worsen the situation by pushing them further from God. As Christians our mandate is to expand his kingdom. However, to do this we must become closer to God ourselves. Thus, this group, is here to help us kindle our relationship that it may grow, and that we may share its light.
This isn’t a read-through. The hope is to actually take our time and discuss different chapters. We’ll go through the books of the New Testament and then the Old Testament. Joining late is okay, the forums are useful because posts remain. We’ll try and get all the chapters posted here on the internet.

"Our deepest fear in not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness tht fightens us most. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?" Actually, who are yo not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence sutomatically liberates others." Nelson Mandela 1994 Inaugural speech.
Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark.
ONE: Don't miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.
