Description

Joe, a teenage orphan in the slums of the Doya streets, meets Danpei, a homeless, alcoholic ex-boxing coach. Danpei, seeing Joe's boxing talent, decides to train him. When Joe is sent to a terrible juvenile home for petty crimes, he meets Rikiishi who becomes his boxing rival. Danpei arrives at the home to help Joe to train in order to defeat Rikiishi. When Joe decides to seriously pursue boxing, Danpei cannot get a coaching license because of his reputation as a drunk.

it's so sick that every worthless piece of trash show that get released these days instantly has one or two groups doing the subs, and then there are these huge classics that no group has any interest in.it just makes u mad at the community

I know some didn’t fully enjoy the series due to the HK subtitles which were inaccurate most of the time but once the fansub releases their sub I will re upload it here again ;-)

Gramz... Die or something. This anime is the father of the sports anime. Without this, you have no Ippo. And this one, despite its age, has a much better story line. THe frames of animation are hand drawn, and repeat less than recent anime.

Kaedric: The Hajime No Ippo manga started in 1990 and Ashita No Joe manga started in 1968.

Yoli: Yes. Why don't you compare the first anime that ever existed and the latest anime to be released? That makes sense.
  • Apr 2 2008

mcdee: Show me a picture you drew in the 1970, which is better than AnJ's drawings.

Str8fs: No one's going to listen to someone who judges an anime by only the first minute of it. dumbass.
  • Apr 2 2008

Animefreak955: OH RLY? Isn't that obvious considering the time gap between HnI and ANJ?

Leng4321: If you have no respect for a classic anime, then no one's going to respect a narutard like you.

This one is a popular classic. If you're a Ring Ni Kakero (1978) or Hajime No Ippo (1990) fan, then this is a must.

is this anywhere close to hajime no ippo? i like ippo alot, the fighting n comedy r both awesome but i dunno about this, should i even bother starting?

This is a very good and inspiring anime... it meant a lot when it was first created, so don't insult it! Besides, Shippuden has no charar development whatsoever. New moves, new hair, same immature brat.
