Cape No. 7 (海角七號) is a 2008 Taiwanese film, set in the southern part of Taiwan (屏東) with the central storyline revolving around 7 love letters, sent 60 years ago following the end of World War 2 to a now non-existent address, and a sub-theme of the competitive Taiwanese music industry.
It's success in Taiwan is accredited for it's depiction of many unique areas of Taiwanese culture, from the Aborigines (原住民), local Taiwanese, to the Japanese. However, without a basic knowledge of Taiwanese culture, it is easy to miss some of the subtleties of the movie. The most interesting aspect of this film, is that the real life stories behind the actors and actresses in this movie are reflected in their roles.
