In Death Note, L describes himself as having a "childish nature", one who is unyielding and hates to lose. Highly intelligent and perceptive, he will use whatever means he can and even take drastic measures to achieve his aims. He is also a risk taker and has no qualms about disclosing his weaknesses and risking his life if it means having a chance to nail down his suspect.

L is also an introvert and does not have much friends; in fact, he describe Light as his first friend.



Abilities

Highly perceptive and intuitive, L is also bold and daring. An ingenious person, he uses both his brain and actions to nail down suspects quickly, or to gather solid evidence.

L is quick-thinking and knows how to make good use of a situation. He is also analytic, meticulous, and has extremely high and clear reasoning skills. Most of the time, his intuitions and deductions are proven right.


Food

L is considerably fussy when it comes to food. He has a sweet tooth and a strong liking for sweet food. He believes that if you use your brain a lot, you will not grow fat even though you eat a lot of sweet stuff. His main diet can consists of anything from:

Cake, ohagi (rice balls), chocolate, cube sugar, jelly, etc

Quirks


L is a character with many special quirks. He has a special way of sitting and claims that his reasoning skills will fall by 40% if he does not sit in the particular way. He also likes to slouch instead of standing or sitting straight up.

In addition, he holds things rather carefully and delicately, and usually uses the tips of the fingers rather than his entire palm.



L also has a habit of biting his thumb and playing with his food, such as stacking up sugar cubes. Of course, another quirk is his "obsession" for sweet food as his main diet.


RELATIONSHIPS

WATARI

Watari, whose original name is Quillsh Wammy, is both L's assistant and a renowned inventor and founder of the Wammy's house, an orphanage for gifted children. He usually acts as the middleman between L and his clients and the police which enables L to keep his identity and whereabouts a secret. He is also the middleman for the other 2 top detectives in the world, which are played by L



NEAR AND MELLO


Near and Mello are both orphans at the Wammy's house and look up to L as their role model. Both are possible candidates for being L's successor, but the untimely death of L meant that there wasn't any final decision until Mello "gave up his rights" to Near.


MISORA NAOMI

An ex-FBI agent, she used to work under L on one assignment. She has inexplicable trust in L, but L only vaguely recalls hearing her name somewhere, until Watari retrieves her data from the computer.



Other information about L

L is believed to be an orphan who stayed in the Wammy's house, an orphan shelter found by Quillsh Wammy (Watari) for gifted young children such as L, Near, and Mello .

L was in England for 5 years and was also the champion for England Junior Cup for tennis.

L uses an Apple's Macintosh computer and a PowerBook G4 laptop (which is seen to be used by Watari).

L has a BMI (body mass index) of 15.6 and is considered underweight!
