Description
Edel Blume is a dating simulation game that takes place in a gothic fantasy world with death and rebirth as its theme. Published by IDEA FACTORY Japan. Available in Japanese langue for PlayStation2 (Japan Region-2).
The story sets stage in Medieval Europe, the heroine Meary is orphaned as a child and is brought up by nuns in the village's convent. As her sixteenth birthday draws near, she starts being plagued by nightmares. Although she understands nothing of those dreams nor remembers anything from them, she has a feeling that she has done something utterly horrible in another life.
One day, an aristocrat Gerald pays a visit to Meary's village and requests that the convent send Meary to his castle as his bride. From then onwards, mysterious occurrences start happening in the village.
Read the text and listen to the fully voiced dialogs to proceed with the story. You are presented with options during the game that are going to determine your ending. The game uses an "eyecatch" system that allows you to see how much the characters like you. You also unlock secret scenes by choosing specific options in a specific order.
CHARACTERS
GERALD
He is a soft-mannered vampire and lives in a castle. A few hundred years ago, he lost his wife, because another vampire took and killed her. He believes that his wife will someday be reborn into the world as a human-being. And he's been looking everywhere for her ever since. Although he's a vampire, Gerald believes in Christianity and he's a very kind man. When he sees Meary, he is convinced that she's the reincarnation of his wife, so he begins to court her in earnest to be his wife again. He saves Meary's life a few times. But he has to face the same enemy all over again for her hand in marriage. He has a cute little bat maid that follows him everywhere. Only the two of them lives in the castle. The people of the village don't know about his true nature, and only think of Gerald as a very nice and introverted aristocrat.
CONRAD
Conrad is a vampire hunter. He comes to Meary's village after hearing news about a vampire that kills people there. His main goal is to kill the vampire and leave the village in peace. He doesn't know that there are two vampires, not just one. His main target is of course Gerald. When he arrives, the village is in chaos because some people were found killed in the woods, and some people suspect Meary, who's family lineage is unknown and who's been having nightmares that eventually come true (she sees these people being killed in her dreams). Conrad always baths with holy water and he can sense a vampire from 100 meters away. Although he doesn't plan to, he begins to fall for Meary and his intention shifts from killing a vampire to killing Gerald to have Meary for himself.
VICTOR
Victor is Meary's childhood friend and neighbour. He likes Meary ever since they were children but never finds the courage to tell her about his feelings. Always bad-tempered and harsh, Victor tends to drive Meary away, but Meary knows him as a very nice person and so never leaves him alone. ^^ Unknown to Meary, a few years back Victor has been bitten by a werewolf and now he's one of them! Because of the strange occurrences in the village, Victor tries to protect Meary and in doing so, uncover his secret in a fight in the woods. Determined to save Meary, Victor kills people without thinking, and blood is now shed for Meary's sake.
AUGUST
Like Victor, August has been Meary's friend since childhood. Both he and Victor are older than Meary, and August is now a teacher in elementary school near the church. He's in love with Meary and never fails to tell her that everyday! ^^;; For Meary, August is not ashamed to cry or bend himself to his knees. Meary and the village people always find kindness and softness in August, but little do they know about his other personality. A few years back, just like Victor, August has changed. A demon came and entered his body. Whenever he's in a stressed condition or senses that Meary is in danger, he splits personality like a psycho. Once like that, there's no stopping August! He eats raw meat and can kill without thinking, all in the name of Meary! August never remembers when he is in a demon state, thus he doesn't believe that he can kill.
RICHARD
Richard is also Meary's childhood friend. He's closer to Meary because his father is the village leader and his little sister ILIYA is Meary's best friend. Meary always thought of Richard's house as her home, and his father as hers, too. Richard is the same age as Meary and is always dreaming of becoming an entertainer. He loves children and is a very soft person. Richard, like August, is not ashamed to show Meary his true feelings! ^^ After ILIYA and his father's death, he learns to become stronger to protect Meary.
BALLASZ
Ballasz is the vampire who took Gerald's wife. He was in love with her but when he took her, she killed herself. Gerald never knows this and the two of them never reunites ever since. Gerald always stays clear of Ballasz's way. When Meary reaches 16, both Gerald and Ballasz meets her and are convinced that she's the reincarnation of their woman. Ballasz comes to the village in secret and even though Gerald knows this, he never tries to confront him. Ballasz is the one who kills people in Meary's village for his enjoyment. He wants to take Meary for himself, but his schemes are always known to Gerald who manages to save Meary in the nick of times. Will Meary choose Ballasz over Gerald? You have to choose for yourself. ^^
