Square Enix, the Japanese publisher that has recently bought Eidos, has announced that it will be releasing Final Fantasy XIII, the latest Japanese role playing game in the long running franchise, in the West on March 9, 2010, on both the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. The game will be outed in Japan on the PS3 only on December 17.
Phil Rogers, who is the president and the Chief Executive Officer of Square Enix Europe, stated, “FINAL FANTASY XIII promises to be a huge event in the 2010 gaming calendar. This is truly a landmark title, arriving simultaneously for multiple platforms for the first time in the history of the series. We are also immensely proud to be able to bring the game to the European and PAL audience much earlier than was publicly anticipated.”
Square Enix has also announced that it has recruited Leona Lewis, an appreciated songwriter and performer, to provide the theme song for the Western version of Final Fantasy XIII. The song is called “My Hands” and is part of the “Echo” album that is being released this week.
Final Fantasy XIII was initially set to be exclusively released on the PS3, as Sony consoles had been the traditional home of the series, but Microsoft broke the new at this year's E3 trade conference saying that the exclusivity was no more. The move to the Xbox 360 is widely thought to have contributed to the delay of the release date, as the game needed to be ported to the Microsoft console in order to get a simultaneous release on Western markets.
Square Enix is saying that the two versions will be equal in all respects, even if the space on the PS3 Blu-ray is bigger than that of the DVD of the Xbox 360. It’s not clear whether those who play the game on the Microsoft device will get the same quality of cutscenes and the original Japanese voice acting.

Final Fantasy Dissidia Official Box Art!
-Dissidia's Japanese box-art has been unleashed online, and the artwork is looking very apt, to say the least.
Then again, was anyone expecting anything other than artwork featuring many of the characters involved? Check it out above.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy is releasing on Sony's PSP across Japan on December 18, 2008. The Western release will be somewhere in the Mid-summer of this year. Meaning it'll be somewhere in June - August. Soo, stay tuned for the US release people!^^

I mean, that was nice that you let your opinion be known but still be respectful towards da boss.. =P heehee's.ManZtheLegend: Man Final Fantasy/ Square Enix stuff is the only reason I would get a PSP, but sadly I do not have one. And I have to disagree with LunarReplicator. I love the Amano art, it has a distinct style of it's own. I can't say his sucks because it lacks a certain something because it is in it's own category. Somehow it has an atmosphere that you can't find in other artwork. That goes for many artists who have their own style. Anyway I enjoy the artwork so *thumbs up*

XD Nomura and Amano..its like Day and Night..you gotta have day to have night..traditional and modern..yeah but i do prefer nomura's art style more than amano. probably because i am bias? or maybe i just can't see the significance of traditional art..and i find modern art to be full of expressions and of course realism. =)

Mainstream Pop Art? (Most of Nomuras Art) most of it is eye candy...its supposed to pull you in with its trendy simplicity...and well mainstream appeal....<_< (which isnt bad mind you....i still love it xD)
But to say it has feeling and expression over Amanos style??......r u kidding me?..=\
I willing to put money down.....that Nomuras work is shaped and molded by Square Enix...

ManZtheLegend: I have to agree with RpGJuNki3. Amano art has much more depth than Nomura. It feels like every line is imbued with meaning, purpose, and life. Every color has a role. Nomura's on the other hand seems like it was just like work. Oh I have to do this for my job so I will draw something it looks good ok. No expression (It's still good just feels like it's missing a lot of things, so not as good as Amano [to me]). I prefer traditional art way more to modern art. Modern art seems like they're just trying too hard with no passion behind it. More like they're just trying to be different, that's what I get from that art anyways. There's some good ones, but for the most part, no.

New Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Playable On Both Wii AND DS?......................................WTF???
- Before we go any further, know that the full details on this are a little scarce, and we imagine we'll only get the whole story at TGS next week (or during the Nintendo presser in a few hours). But the latest issue of Famitsu says that upcoming Square Enix RPG Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time will be playable on both the Wii and DS. Same game, available on both systems. Meaning that the Wii version is - yes - essentially a port of a DS game. There's some other stuff about being able to play cross-platform (which is presumably the whole point of this), ala Crystal Chronicles, but again, we'll hold off on getting too excited until we get the full details from Square Enix next week.

Play at the same time on the Wii and DS, thanks to Pollux Engine created by Square Enix.
- Players on the Wii and players on the Nintendo DS will be able to play online together.
- Different gameplay for the 2 versions (stylus or Wiimote).

New Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII & Final Fantasy Agito XIII Images

- The most recent issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu PS3 has loads of details about upcoming Square Enix titles Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. As we previously posted, the FFXIII demo will be longer than Advent Children and will be on a regular Blu-ray disc. FFXIII will have a party battle system, and the story is being written so that each character apparently seems like the protagonist (instead of simply a supporting character). The magazine features around 20 new screenshots of Final Fantasy XIII, apparently real time, too. There are real-time screens of Versus XIII. It seems that the clothing and the cars in Versus XIII have been tweaked and look different. AT TGS, we can supposedly look forward to the name of the prince and the heroine being announced.
A summary of what the scans say:
-The Demo of Final Fantasy XIII will be on a PS3 game disc, and will be longer than Advent Children Complete(90min+)
-Most of the Screens in the scans are real time.
-Much of the Clothing and Cars will change in the final version of the game.
-The decision to move Agito XIII to the PSP is because the team did not want to wait for cellphones to become powerful enough.
-The Battle System for Agito will be intense action, but still ATB, similar to Crisis Core.
-Agito XIII will have more than one character in the party.
-The game will also support up to 3 player infrastructure and Ad-Hoc multilayer.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Parasite Eve "Sequel" Are PSP Bound

- Square Enix announced at its Private Party in Shinjuku today that both Final Fantasy Agito XIII and The 3rd Birthday will be released on the PSP. The two were previously announced for release only on mobile phones. Square Enix did not provide a date for Final Fantasy Agito XIII, but pegged the not-quite-a-sequel to Parasite Eve II for a 2009 release. The 3rd Birthday is said to follow the adventures of series protagonist Aya Brea but play differently from previous Parasite Eve titles.
