Gummy
Biography:
Gummy, a charismatic singer with a burning passion for R&B music stepped into the local pop scene with her impressive debut song "When You Come Back" in 2003. Later, she completely changed her image with another hit song "Better Friends Than Lovers", that vividly manifested the singer's rich emotions. It took seven years for her to release her own album after she was acquainted with an entertainment agency, cherishing a dream of becoming a singer. The entertainment agency, M-Boat Entertainment was the same agency that made Whee Sung, now one of the best R&B solo artists around into a star. Influenced by her mother who was an enthusiastic music lover, Gummy began to learn the piano at the tender age of six. If she hadn't become a singer, she would have become a pianist.
Gummy participated in a live album work in 2003 in which, popular newcomers such as Whee Sung, Se7en and Big Mama, gathered together to present past hits, upcoming songs from their own albums, and also other well-known songs sung by other artists to their fans. Their joint live concert "The Color of the Soul Train' has now become an annual nation-wide tour, drawing enthusiastic support and love from music fans across the nation. Gumy also sang the "You are My Hero" which, was the theme song to a Korean animated film "Hammerboy", which opened in summer 2004. Gumy has been recognized by fans all over the world to be the "Queen of Soul".

Recent News:
Loyalty over Money
Last May 14, Gummy revealed in the MBC show “Golden Fishery - Radio Star” that there were offers for her to transfer labels during the time she was extending her contract with YG Entertainment.
In the said show, she was asked whether she had offers to transfer labels before finally signing again under YG to which Gummy answered, “Of course there were. I was even offered with a contract worth 2 billion won.”
Gummy went on saying, “It’s a really super large amount of money especially at this time (music industry on a slump).”
The R&B singer, who made her comeback this year with the hit song “I’m Sorry,” also showed that her loyalty lies with YG Entertainment as it is very difficult to meet good people, who she had found in the said label.
“Loyalty over money,” Gummy said.
Meanwhile, speaking of contracts, SS501 member Kim Hyun Joong, who is also one of the show’s guests, commented that SS501’s contract with DSP Entertainment ends on June 8, 2010. Hyun Joong expressed the irony of it because June 8 happens to be the day SS501 debuted.

Gummy temporarily takes a rest
May 25, 2008
Gummy is temporarily stopping activities because of Laryngitis that was due to non-stop promotions since the release of her 4th album in March.
According to YG Entertainment, Gummy’s busy schedule has caused a lot of strain on her larynx and physical well-being, which in turn have also taken their toll on her performances. It may be remembered that when Gummy released her 1st album, she also had a problem with her vocal cord.
As soon as Gummy regains her health, she will be back again to do activities.
