NOTE: I researched and wrote all of this myself, so please don't quote me on some of these things~ I'm pretty sure they're all right, but you never know. Also... PLEASE DON'T PLAGERIZE! I (XxyoroshikuxX) and -as far as I know- Homeschooled_chick16 wrote all of this on our own with our own knowledge and effort. ...~I did cite some info from School girl Inferno [see forums] -but they were interviews and obviously I don't want to rearrange quotes
This is a group dedicated to Gals, Manba, Ganguro, etc...; and all those that are fans of the styles!^^ It's also a Sifow fan group^^

←Sifow with another Gal holding a "Gyaru Rebo" poster (Gal Rev.) ...(it also says "Gyaru Kakumei" in kanji, which means "Gal Revolution")
What is this "Gal Revolution" ??
(aka: Gyaru Kakumei or
ギャル革命)
Well...
The Gal Revolution is a major change that is now occurring in Japan, concerning the way Japanese girls known as "Gals" are viewed by the public.
Since the trend began, Gals received major media attention and were considered disgusting, dirty, and -overall- unpleasant. They were treated as criminals because of their fashion sense (this is still an ongoing discrimination, however). They dress differently than the rest of Japan does, wearing heavy make-up, micro-miniskirts, and flaunting their "beach-girl" tans (as they tried to copy the Californian beach girl look as the "Kogal" style started out). Obsessed with glamour and glitz, these girls are a force to be reckoned with!! And one Gal,
Sifow, is proving it.
After Sifow (birth name: Shiho Fujita) graduated from a junior high with strict rules, she experienced a rebellious streak^^. The rebellious streak led her to transform into a "typical gal", complete with a tan and micro-miniskirt. However, classmates and teachers, and even *authorities*, took notice and labeled her as a "no-good punk" (←my words). Sifow and all the other gals knew that they were wrong and it wasn't true what the others all started to believe. These discriminations that she began to face led Sifow to start a "revolution" - from her desire to change how everyone viewed the Gals andcreate opportunities for Gals (due to discrimination, the Gals choices are limited

)
Sifow is now a successful businesswoman with a cause (go figure

). She has created the opportunites for Gals everywhere^^ because, as she states in an interview with a famous Japanese newspaper, "Social prejudice against gals is stunting their potential. I want to open up new possibilities for many gals." Her business company, SGR (which stands for:
Shiho
Gal
Revolution) is extremely prosperous and still prospering! In her first year, she racked up 70 million¥(about 655,199 U.S. Dollars).
GAL POWER!!
Sifow's company is marketed towards other Gals, but since Gals draw media attention, her marketing is reaching a wide range of people (mainly through her music). She sells cosmetics, perfume, clothes, shoes, and even *video games*. Also, she is currently a successful recording artist as well as
Gyaruru's manager. She rulez.
Now, let's go!! Promote Love & Peace!!!

BANZAI!!
Since the public is against the gyaru style so much (not all of them are though, some couldn't care less) Gyaru's felt that they need to stick together so they decided to make Gal circles or Gyaru-sa. There are many Gal Circles all over Japan, but most of them are centered in Shibuya. The biggest Gal Circle is
"Angeleek" . Angeleek is centered in Shibuya but they have satellite groups all over Japan (for both boys and girls). The main group has over 20 members but in total, there is over 500 members. (not sure about the exact numbers)

♪☆About Para Para★♪
♥Para Para♥
Para Para is a form of Japanese dance, said to have originated in the 80’s (but became extremely popular in the 90’s) that involves a BUNCH of hand moving and bopping around like a cute little girl. Though Para Para involves mostly arm movements, it sometimes involves leg action, too! But mostly, the only thing you do with your lower body in Para Para is step in place and move your hips a bit. The phrase “para para” is an onomatopoeic phrase for something falling, lightly to the ground, in a wavy pattern – like a piece of paper falling to the ground.
The dance itself can be performed alone, but is usually performed with multiple girls – forming a type of mass-synchronization of hand movements and wiggling. You can find gals performing Para Para in the streets of Harajuku, getting ready for a night out in a club, where they’ll show off their Para Para. The fans of Para Para are often referred to as “paralists”.
Para Para dances are performed USUALLY to Eurobeat, Hyper Techno, and trance music, forming variants of Para Para, such as TechPara and TraPara (which is also called ToraPara, due to the fact that “trance” in Japanese is called “toransu”). Each song played in the clubs has a specific routine that must be perfectly executed. Learning the correct hand motions requires careful study and a lot of practice. A gal can spend up to 3 or 4 hours practicing with friends, but it’s worth it. A paralist once stated, “The group choreography makes us feel more unified as friends.” Awwww~
And remember to have fun with it!! Have emotion when your dancing and be loose, otherwise it looks, well, not fun (and boring!

)
♀Gyarusu!♀
Gyarusu (a.k.a: “Gals” translated into English) is the name given to a girl that dresses sexy or cute and is young. There is even a subculture in Japan known as Gals. The Gals dress very glamorously, with blinged out cell-phones, gorgeous jewelry, and ONLY the most fashionable clothes (they shop in Shibuya ^_~)
Ganguro and Manba gals are much more colorful and, hm, experimental. They’re the girls that have strayed from the path of normality; so far from that path that they don’t even appear Japanese anymore, they look much more like aliens.
The Gonguro style became popularized in the late 90s in Japan by a Japanese girl who went by the name of “Buriteri” –named after the black soy sauce used to flavor yellowtail fish in teriyaki cooking. (“Buri-” from the soy sauce; “teri-” from “teriyaki”). Buriteri, as history will remember her, was a cross between a “twisted genius and full-blown insanity”. She was BLACK. And not naturally either; her skin had been burnt beyond all belief, which was different from the Japanese preference of pale, fair skin. She also bleached her hair to the point that it was was a silvery color (known as “high-bleached”). Her fashion sense, her skin and her hair were all different than the “average” Japanese girl in her days. Overall, she was a bold, daring girl; who was bored and maybe seeking attention.
However, the Buriteri that no one but her own gal-circle knew, was a very shy and introverted person. According to Yuka Mizuno, one of the Gonguro San Kyodai ("the three black-faced siblings," also known as Buriteri’s posse that consisted of 3 other gonguro gals), Buriteri never showed her face without make-up. Says Mizuno, “Even when we had a sleepover party, the only thing she would take off were her false eyelashes. After a shower, she would spend 2 to 3 hours in the bathroom doing her make-up. We would pound on the door if we had to go pee.” And in response to their banging, Buriteri would shout back, “I am too shy to show you my real face!!” She said that she used so much make-up to hide her true personality which was actually very shy.
Buriteri created her own bold, daring style; but like all good things, Gonguro gals faded away, too… The rather rude and unwanted attention she received, criticizing her fashion style, eventually made her give up her style. In an interview, Buriteri said, “Rather than because of any reaction from my family, I decided to give up the Gonguro look because of how other people saw me. I’d just be sitting down somewhere and an adult would come along and point at me, screaming out stuff like ‘cockroach!’ or ‘How sickening!’ My friends and I promised to become adults who never cared about how others felt or looked. That helped to make me really strong.” Buriteri was last seen working at a clothing boutique and her skin was snow-white.
However, though the Gonguro look faded out, other styles such as Manba, and Ganguro (notice the “a” in Ganguro- like Gonguro, but different!) came to fruition, as a result of the Gonguro boom. These new styles were very similar to Gonguro, but Ganguro is slightly toned down and more colorful. The make-up was still heavy, but the tans aren’t as extreme as the Gonguro were.
Ganguro are a little bit more on the normal side. They have tans, but their make-up isn’t quite as heavy, and their hair is usually only a light brown, not a colorful rainbow or bleached blonde color. And their fashion is more on the reasonable side in comparison to the other styles. However,
Manba are extremely colorful and a more modern, colorful -and less scary- version of the once Gonguro gals.
Noticeable differences between Manba and Gonguro are the Manba’s preference of sandals instead of platform boots (for safety reasons) and they wear dark skin foundation instead of artificially tanning (because of the skin cancer risk); their love of hair extensions dyed super bright colors and their love of super cute character goods (such as purses in the shape of cartoon character’s faces, or Hello Kitty purses) Also, the Manba have a love of Para Para and Eurobeat music. ♥
