Ban Mido and Ginji Amano are a recovery duo known as "GetBackers". For a fee, they will recover any lost or stolen item for a client with an "almost 100% success rate".


Getbackers

Ginji Amano
Ginji can generate electricity from his body. His power also gives him the ability to summon lightning, magnetism, and a rapid-healing ability. He's even more powerful when he's in Limitless Fortress. He was once the leader of a rough, notorious gang called the Volts. They called him the Lightening Emperor. When Ban came and told Ginji if he stayed in the Limitless Fortress, he'd hurt the people close to him there. Ginji left without telling anyone. Now Ginji's cheerful, funny, and friendly. He only turns into the Lightening Emperor when he becomes overwhelmed with grief or when his life is in serious danger. Ban is his best friend, and they stick together no matter what.



Ban Mido
Ban Mido is quarter-German. He inherited his Jagan from his grandmother, who was the last known witch of her time. He is also called Jagan No Otoko ("Man with the Evil Eye"). Ban usually uses the Jagan three times in the span of 24 hours, and no more than once on a person, but it doesn't mean that he can't use it more three times. If Ban is going to use it more than three times, it will have a terrible effect on his body. The Jagan isn't the only move Ban has up his sleeve. The Snake Bite is a move that can crush anything within Ban's grasp, and it has a grip of 200 kg of force. There is a more powerful version of the snake bite called Serpent Holder. By reciting an incantation, Ban summons Ophiuchus to use his secret weapon. Overall Ban is arrogant and cocky, but extremely smart. He is able to play the violin. He is to proud to get a part time job even though the get backers are broke. Plus, he has an undesirable habit of parking his beetle in 'no parking zones.' Thus, he spends what little money the Get Backers earn paying fines.

The Honky Tonk
Paul Wan
Paul Wan is the owner of the Honky Tonk cafe. He's wise and gives advice to Ban and Ginji. He's always telling them to pay their tab or they'll never get anything at his restaurant. We've never seen any customers in his place other then the Get Backers, Shido, Kazuki, etc. His only employee is Natsumi. Paul often finds time out of his life to help the Ban and Ginji. He is also known as a master coffee maker and always gives information and coffee to those who talk to him and he always listens. He also manages to cheer up people who are down. Ban and Ginji often go into the store and cause damage (mostly Ban) but he seems to be use to it by now.
Natsumi Mizuki
Natsumi is the only employee at the Honky Tonk cafe. She's the first person to hire the Get Backers, and then after the job, becomes their friend. She lost her mother before she started high school. Before her mother died, she made Natsumi a small cat-like toy. In the beginning of the first episode, the cat is stolen by a cop who worked for the yakuza. She then hires the Get Backers to get the cat back. Natsumi promised Ban and Ginji that she would take care of them and make sure that they'd never go hungry. She can be as tough as Paul in her own way, but when the Get Backers are out on jobs, she worries about their safety, or wishes she was there with them instead of working at the diner.


Hevn
Hevn is the negotiator who never covers up her breasts. Hevn is the one who finds jobs for Ban and Ginji. Usually, when she finds for them, they get little money because she takes the negotiator's fee or they get no money at all. As you would expect from the fact that she gets caught by the enemy all the time, her fighting abilities are very low ut sometimes she can be useful. She gets her fair share of 30%. When she is involved in a job, though, she usually leaves 100 yen for the Get Backers.




The Four Kings of Volts

Shido Fuyuki ---"Beastmaster" or "Monkey Boy" by Ban
Shido was one of the four emperors back in Limitless Fortress. Shido is one of the last remaining survivors of his clan, the Mariudo. He has the ability called the "Beast Whistle" which he can use to call any type of animals within a two mile radius. Shido has this other ability called "Beast Mimicry" in which he transforms parts of his body into an animal which give him the ability of the animal he's using. It is said that he has 101 of these forms. So far, his wolf form seems to be the strongest because it gives him a great boost of speed and strength.

Kazuki Fuuchouin---"Threadmaster Kazuki"
Kazuki, also known as Ito no Kazuki, is a man who looks like a woman. When Kazuki was just under 15 years old, he met Jubei Kakei of the Kakei Style, and at that time Jubei thought that Kazuki was a girl because he was wearing a kimono. But it was their tradition to wear a kimono while playing a string instrument. Kazuki and Jubei were the best of friends. After the incident at Fuchoin Resident, Kazuki and Juubei fled to Limitless Fortress. Kazuki was a former leader of the VOLTS, he left at the same time as Shido Fuyuki. Kazuki is trustworthy, intelligent, a true friend, and the kindest member of the Volts. He never held a grudge against Ban Midou thus he respects the Ginji's decision of leaving the Limitless Fortress. Though Kazuki is the kindest of all the members of the Volts, he has a very dangerous weapon, a string. He makes it so strong that it can even cut through stones and even bones. He always keep his strings in a bell which he hangs in his hair. He is one of the best students from the Fuji String School.

The Transporters

Kuroudou Akabane---"Dr. Jackal"
Akabane Kurodo made his first appearance on Get Backers as a Transporter with Himiko. His weapons are scalpels, 108 to be precise, which come out from his body and has something to do with the scars around his body. He wears a long black coat and a large black hat. Akabane is a very polite guy on the outside, but often shows his tendency to be an unwavering killer. His codename in the Transport world is Dr. Jackal. His most noticeable trademarks are the wide brimmed hat he wears on his head and the J found carved into every one of his victims. His main weapons are the 108 scalpels hidden inside his body. He has several special attacks, among which is Bloody Rain, an attack where he shoots his scalpels into the air and lets them rain down upon his enemy, almost literally tearing them to shreds. This was seen in the episode where he first fought Ginji. He also has Bloody Hurricane, Bloody Stream, Bloody Sword, and Bloody Cross. He is a ruthless killer, ut he was merciful at the end of the Forbidden Fortress Ark, when he did not slay the people being controlled by the Wire Doll system created by MakubeX.
