Kirari Tsukishima
The heroine of this series. 14 years old, she is an eighth grader. Cute but gluttonous, Kirari never cared for anything other than food until she meets and falls in love with Seiji Hiwatari of SHIPS, a popular idol duo. After she discovers that Seiji is an idol, in a completely different world from her, she decides to become an idol herself in order to be close to him. Like a lot of shōjo heroines, she is clumsy, dense and lacks common sense. She is also inexperienced at sewing, cooking and some other household chores. Despite her shortcomings and lack of talents, she manages to persevere because of the help she receives from SHIPS and her cat, Naa-san, and because of her unwavering spirit and resilience. She is also a member of the idol unit Kira☆Pika which consists of her and another girl which is talented but has stage fright. As the series progresses, Kirari starts to realize that she actually likes Hiroto.

Hiroto Kazama
A member of SHIPS. In contrast to Seiji, he is brutally honest with Kirari but he sometimes helps her. As the series progresses, his affection for Kirari accumilates, to the point where he falls in love with her. He is always startled by Kirari's tactics. Despite his tough exterior, he is a kind person who is always concerned about Kirari's well being. He the oldest of 5 brothers, he is an ideal big brother who accomplishes all chores perfectly.

Seiji Hiwatari
A member of SHIPS, as well as Kirari's love interest. Very rich. His parents disagree him of being an idol. Throughout the beginning of the series, he seems oblivious to Kirari's feelings, but by episode 12 he begins to portray feelings of jealousy over Hiroto's and Kirari's friendly relationship.He knows that Kirari and Hiroto love each other and his feelings towards Kirari is not as deep as Hiroto towards Kirari. He is gentle and says very encouraging words to Kirari. Since he is as dense as her, he always has a calm and clueless expression. When he is wandering around in the city, he disguises himself as an otaku.

Naa-san
Kirari's cat. He is an outstanding cat that can sew, cook, and do other chores. Na-san has received recognition for his intelligence and singing abilities. He even knows how to repair vending machines. As a mascot character to the heroine, he provides a lot of help to Kirari and protects her from danger. At the same time, it is also shown that it is a genius cat which excels in both english and mathematics. His favorite food is taiyaki which is a fish shaped waffley thing with red bean paste.

Takashi Tsukishima
As Kirari's father, he displays his love for his daughter by cooking a lot of delicious foods for her to eat. At first, he
is unsupportive of Kirari becoming an idol, but after she has proven herself, he begins to cheer for her on.



Obbachan(Grandmother)
Despite she's a major SHIPS fan, especially of Hiroto, Kirari's grandma supports Kirari just as much in her career. She is very keen and regularly awards Kirari with snacks.


Subaru Tsukishima ( Kirari's older brother)
He is looked up to by his younger sister, Kirari a lot. Just one year ago, he departed for America to pursue in his studies of acting. However, he was rejected from an audition and returned in envy during a visit when he realizes Kirari has became an idol. Thus, he disguised as Kirari to get some of the action. His companion is Mr. Na, a kitten whom he found in New York.



Mr Na
Mr. Na is a kitten who was found by Subaru, Kirari's older brother, in New York's Fifth Avenue and the two became inseparable since. He impostered Naa-san when Subaru dressed up his as his sister for a live broadcast.
