This picture is a little spoiler for some and for others seen a million times. Its said that this is a sneak peak for season 2. The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya, as you know, will be aired sometime after Clannad. That is where Yuki went.......haywire for some reason. Most likely because of her interaction with Kyon. You know what I mean. She changed the world on Dec 18, making it a world without aliens, time travelers and espers or in other words, a completely normal world where the laws of physics are absolute.
In that world, Yuki is a normal shy bookworm, who obviously possesses romantic feelings for Kyon so the original Yuki may also feel the same way. Mikuru doesn't even know Kyon and Haruhi, as the title states, is nowhere to be found.
However, Kyon himself retains his memories from the original world and quickly assessed his situation. Fortunately, the alien Yuki left him a clue in the form of the bookmark that she once gave him. You know the one saying she wants to meet Kyon in the park at night so that she can talk about Haruhi and herself.
And so he went out trying to figure out what the hell that bookmark means. He gets significant help from Taniguchi when Taniguchi said that Haruhi isn't really gone but just attending some other school. And so Kyon went to that school to see and fetch Haruhi who unfortunately doesn't have any idea about him. Oh by the way, Itsuki is also attending the same school as Haruhi and is a normal human who also doesn't know Kyon.
Thankfully, Haruhi still retains her memories from July 7 three years ago. You know the one that Taniguchi said that she did back in junior high where she drew something weird on the schoolyard. Actually, Kyon was the one who did that with the instruction of the younger Haruhi. With Mikuru's assistance, they time traveled sometime before The Vanishment so that they can "aid" the past Haruhi. What they did was actually a preparation for the alteration of the world on Dec 18.
And so, Kyon used those memories in order to have Haruhi to come with him, as well as Itsuki, to North High. Good thing that Haruhi still has her.....erm.....weird attitude or else they will have trouble entering the school grounds and dragging the reluctant Mikuru into "their" clubroom where the human Yuki waits.
This assembly of the SOS Dan members initiated the first part of the solution for the restoration of the world........Upon all the members of the SOS Dan are in the clubroom, the main computer came to life by itself. Knowing what exactly is happening to the computer, Kyon placed himself in front of the monitor. Alien Yuki is online. The entire brigade is the key to establish a link with the original world as Yuki said. She gave some more explanation on the situation and some instructions on how to begin the restoration "IF" Kyon wants the original world back. Without much thought, Kyon pressed the Enter key as Yuki instructed.
Poof! He time traveled and came back to july 7 three years ago when he met the young Haruhi. He seeks the assistance of the older Mikuru and together they went to Yuki's apartment. Note, Yuki was born three years prior to the events of Haruhi Suzumiya and she was placed on standby by her bosses in her current home until Haruhi attends high school.
Kyon and the older Mikuru asked for the past Yuki's help and without much explanation, Yuki understood what they meant and gave them "enhancements" and "items" so they can restore the world back to what it really is. Kyon and the older Mikuru time traveled to the time just a few minutes before the world is altered and saw Yuki doing what is illustrated in that pic. After changing everything including herself, Kyon and Mikuru approached her to reverse the process. Just before Kyon use the item the alien Yuki gave her, Asakura Ryoko stabbed him from his back trying to protect the now human Yuki.
I forgot to mention that Ryoko replaced Haruhi in the altered world freaking the living hell out of Kyon upon again seeing the one who attempted to kill him.
Just before losing consciousness, someone else took the item from him and said that he will be taking care of things for Kyon. That someone was actually Kyon from the not so far future accompanied by the original Mikuru and alien Yuki.
Kyon later woke up in an hospital and learned that the other members of the SOS Dan took turns in taking care of him while he's knocked out. (Hmm, seems that Haruhi worries the most and the happiest one when Kyon woke up again.) As expected, the story was altered so that other people will believe that Kyon just rolled down from a staircase. Actually, he did roll or rather Yuki made him roll so that everything is more convincing.
After some usual talk between the brigade members, Kyon singled out Yuki so that they can talk alone. Yuki told Kyon that her bosses will punish her for going haywire making Kyon angry saying that it's not her fault why she now possesses emotions. The reason why Yuki altered the world is because she wants to fulfill kyon's wish of living in a normal world and the reason why she wants that is most likely because she does like Kyon. Kyon then told Yuki to relay a message to her bosses. The message states that if Yuki is punished, Kyon will provoke Haruhi in doing something that the higher ups will not like like erasing their very existence. Yuki complied.
After leaving the hospital, Kyon made his plans on when he will time travel again to save himself and restore the world.
