The banner for Maki's new drama Tokujou Kabachi is out!
-----------------------------------------------------------
‘Tokujou Kabachi!!’ officially announced
Written by HPriest from Pori-chan

Sakurai Sho rescues the weak in TBS drama ‘Tokujou Kabachi!!’
On 12th November, TBS announced that Arashi’s Sakurai Sho (27) will play the lead role in TBS drama ‘Tokujou Kabachi!!’ (starts 17th January 2010, Sundays at 9). The drama follows the struggles of administrative scriveners who use the law as a weapon to fight for the weak. Horikita Maki (21) will also star in their first work together. With the same broadcast time as NTV’s ‘Gyouretsu no Dekiru Houritsu Soudansho’, it will be a showdown between two law-themed programs.
Sakurai plays the main character Tamura Katsuhiro, a meddlesome character with a burning sense of justice. After his mother was given help, Tamura longs to enter into the world of public notary. In reality he thinks "Law my ass, this isn’t right at all!" as he complains and uses the law to help out the weak. The drama with its comical and serious aspects will make viewers think about questions like ‘What is justice?’ and ‘How should people lead their lives?’
On the other hand, Horikita plays the shrewd administrative scrivener Sumiyoshi Misuzu, a former delinquent who hates to lose so much that she has been known to sever ties after losing a game of rock-paper-scissors. Confrontations arise at every opportunity between the complete opposites, the herbivorous Tamura and carnivorous Misuzu, but as time goes by they begin to understand each other.
"’Being a daredevil is not a bad thing’. And ‘It’s cool to work with all one’s might’. I want to reaffirm those ideas as I portray Tamura," commented Sakurai. Others in the cast include Nakamura Masatoshi, Endo Kenichi, Takahashi Katsumi and Asano Yuko.
In the works is also a quiz aired during the program itself. Viewers will send in their answers during the broadcast time. The winner will then receive a call from Sakurai or other cast members, in a first of its kind trial project.

Press conference video for Nakushita Kioku out!
Last November, it was announced that Maki Horikita (21) and Kenichi Matsuyama (24) were co-starring in a movie tentatively called "Nakushita Kioku," directed by American filmmaker Hans Canosa. On Sunday, a press conference was held to announce the film’s release window and official title.
The picture will be titled "Dareka ga Watashi ni Kiss wo Shita" and is slated for theatrical release in March 2010. Based on the novel "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" by American author Gabrielle Zevin, the story tells of a high school student (Horikita) who loses part of her memory in an accident.
Although the movie is in Japanese, Horikita’s character attends an international school, so about 40% of her lines are in English. She commented that she was surprised when she first saw the script, and she had a lot of trouble with the English lines. However, Canosa praised her, saying that she has the potential to become an international star.
NEWS member Yuya Tegoshi (21) and American actor Anton Yelchin (20) have also been cast in the movie.

A tipsy Homaki about love and other things
Today actress Horikita Maki (21) attended the "2009 Suntory Cocktail Award Competition" as a guest examiner for the final screening of the last 24 bartenders. "It was the first time that I had 24 glasses of alcohol, it really was a precious experience for myself." She commented with a blushed face.
This award competition aims to find the most creative bartenders of Japan. They do this competition every years since 1994 and hope to make cocktails and Western alcohol more popular in Japan. The last 24 bartenders who get the chance to attend the final screening already went through a couple of preliminary rounds. There are 2 different groups for this competition, 12 bartenders try to make the best cocktail based on a particular theme and the 12 others just try to make their best cocktails without any theme.
Just the day before Horikita had her 21st birthday. "My family and I drank a toast to celebrate it." She said. "It’s kinda of sad that I won’t be 20 anymore. I guess I’m becoming an adult for real now." Of course she doesn’t drink 24 different cocktails every day and she isn’t that good with alcohol anyway. "I can’t drink that much, that’s why I only had a sip for each cocktail today. I remember that I’m becoming really happy when I’m drunk and that I start to laugh a lot. It’s embarrassing." She revealed.
Would she like to go to a bar with a boyfriend? "That would be great. I’ve never been to a bar, so someone should take me out to one. A cool and good-looking person would be nice." There you have her girl’s feelings and know how to plan your first date, …in your dreams! There was another interesting comment regarding the love issue reporters tend to be pushy about. They asked her about her opinion about the love rumor of her good friend and colleague at the same agency, Kuroki Meisa. "I saw it on TV! I’ll try not to loose against her!" Go Maki! Get yourself a really nice boyfriend!

Fashion’s Night Out 2009
In a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion, U.S. and international editions of "Vogue" are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals, including New York City, the UK, France, Japan and 9 more countries.
In Japan, the event happened at night in Tokyo, of course. The big event happened in Omotesando and Aoyama and had a lot of beautiful stars as guests with model Tominaga Ai leading the way. Other famous guests included Tsuchiya Anna, Yoshikawa Hinano and Horikita Maki. All special guests brought along some of their favorite and precious items to sell at a charity auction.
The host of the event, Chris Pepper (Christopher Daniel Pepper) especially was into Horikita’s favorite pink "miu miu" coffer bag. His slightly perverted comment about the bag – "
Horikita-san’s sweat somewhat soaked into it!" – was a bit random for such a fashion event and both Tominaga and Tsuchiya also labeled him as a pervert, but in the end it sold for 50,000 Yen ($550). Of course it was all just for fun and the auction was a big success. All the money will be contributed to "Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (KnK)" and the "Hayaki Foundation".
Supermodel Tominaga Ai who kinda appeared like an ambassador for worldwide fashion had her own way of supporting retail and showing consumer confidence. With many activities in other fashion capitals such as Paris, Tominaga doesn’t always have the time to go shopping in Tokyo or Japan in general, but today she really went on a shopping spree. "I wanted to go shopping at so many places, but I already bought way too much after only 20 shops." She said at the closing ceremony with lots of shopping bags in both hands. It’s said that she spent several millions of yen in less than 3 hours.

Despite leading an impoverished life, the Yame family is cheerful, healthy and gets along well and Masako cares about this family more than anything else. When Masako starts working at a club at Nakasu, she becomes acquainted with Onizuka Daizo (Sato Koichi), the manager of the club who is a shrewd, up-and-coming businessman. Daizo has been devoting himself to the resurrection of the streets of Hakata, which had been bombed in the air raids. He is drawn to Masako’s positive attitude about her family and before long Masako’s respect for Daizo turns into love. Encouraged by Daizo’s pledge to take care of her family, Masako decides to “marry” him. At that moment, another one of Tokijiro’s get-rich-quick schemes fails and the people of Hakata start pointing fingers at the family and talking about them behind their backs. When Daizo expands to Tokyo, Masako proposes that the entire family moves up to Tokyo …

Fuji TV's 50th Anniversary Dorama
Written by: www.kawaii-joyuu.com
Source: Sanspo
Today Fuji TV announced its big 3-episode dorama special that is going to commemorate the station’s 50th anniversary. No other than Mitani Koki (48) is going to provide the script for the dorama called "Waga Uchi no Rekishi" (My Family’s History) which is going to air next spring. It is going to tell the story of a family’s life during 1945~1964 (Showa period) and at the same time it is going to tell us a bit about the period in general. Shibasaki Kou (28), Matsumoto Jun (26), Sato Ryuuta (29), Horikita Maki (20) and Eikura Nana (21) are going to portray the members of that family, but the list of the doesn’t end here!
The story focuses on the "Yame Family" and its 7 family members. It starts in 1945, so it will be interesting to see how families lived right after the end of th war. "It’s the first time we are mixing the genre of a family dorama with a post-war dorama," Mitani comments. "During that long story, we are going to see laughter, tears, romance, suspense and love within the family and not to forget the classic teledrama component. I couldn’t have wrote something like that, if it wasn’t for the 50th anniversary." He added.
Of course, a 50th anniversary dorama has to come with an amazing cast and Fuji TV really did a great job in getting a lot of top-class actors and actresses. Above you already heard about the 5 starring people who are going to play the siblings of the family, but you are also going to see popular stars such as Sato Kouichi (48), Nagasawa Masami (22), Ooizumi You (36) and Amami Yuuki (42) who we are used to see in starring roles as well. Nishida Toshiyuki (61) and Fuji Sumiko (63) are going to play the parents of the Yame family.
For the 5 people playing the siblings, plus Nagasawa and Ooizumi, it’s going to be the first time they are appearing in a dorama or movie written by Mitani. Shibasaki who is going to play the eldest daughter: "Instead of all-smiles, it’s going to be a very deep story and I’m glad to be a part of it." Matsumoto, the eldest son: "I’m very happy to be able to participate in such a wonderful project."
Other comments from some of the actors: "It’s a great honor to participate in a project of a great senior from my university." (Sato Ryuuta) – "I’m very happy to become a part of the Mitani family." (Nagasawa)
This dorama is going to be the last of 5 planned anniversary projects by Fuji TV. Many big moments of the Showa period are going to be portrayed next to the family story, such as the Teikoku Bank Incident, the US-Japan Security Treaty conflicts, the start of the Shinkansen trains, the Olympics in Tokyo and so on. Fuji TV is already really full of expectations for their big birthday dorama, "We are confident that you’ve never seen a dorama like this before!" So far, so good, but how are we supposed to endure the anticipation until spring next year?

Maki's "Sunset Photo" at Fujifilm photo exhibition

Today the "'PHOTOS IS' 10,000 Tari no Shashin Ten 2009" ("'PHOTO IS' -Photos of 10,000 people 2009-") exhibition opened at the "Fujifilm Square" in Tokyo Midtown with special guest Horikita Maki attending the opening like in 2008. Among the photos of 10,000 people, there are also 'heartwarming' photos made by Horikita herself, this year with a new one.
At the exhibition there is a corner called "100 photos that impressed the celebrities" where Horikita and 9 other celebrities pick 10 photos each they like the most. On stage she commented about the 3 most impressive ones of the 10 she selected and 2 of them have a very warm family theme.
"The scenery with the setting sun and the warm love of a family, I really love that." She praised it on stage. "Do you also want to have your own family soon?" Horikita got asked. "Maybe not soon, but I definitely want to have a family, especially when seeing this photo...," She answered with a smile. As usual the reporters kept on bugging with the love issue and asked her for her ideal type of man. "A kind person would be nice, somebody who would be a calm and gentle father."
Horikita can almost be called a real 'photographer' herself, since she's carrying a camera with her every day. "It's a bit embarrassing to take photos, but I still love it." She then got asked whether 'Love' would be a good time to take a picture and she bashfully answered, "I don't know, but I'm always prepared to take a picture. The focus point... that would be difficult for this one, though." For her newest photo she got on a boat at a beach and photographed the beautiful sunset. "The sea was very rough at that time, I didn't think that I would be able to get a nice picture. However, I think this one here came out quite nice, with the setting sun, the color of the sky and the tip of the boat and the island." She timidly explained and clearly impressed the crowd, especially the professional cameramen who are working for the reporters.
Nice sceneries have been the specialty of Horikita up until now, but recently she also got into taking pictures of people. It appears that she only uses her very close friends as models for a certain reason, though. "I constantly have to change the composition and take a lot of pictures until I get one that can convince me." She seems to be very serious when it comes to photographs, just like a professional.
The exhibition starts for the public at the Fujifilm Square on the 26th and is going to visit over 20 different cities until November. It's the 4th time they are doing this photo exhibition where everyone can participate by sending in their photos along with a comment.
