HYDE (pronounced in Japanese as HAIDO and in English as HYDE) is the singer for the Japanese rock band L'arc en Ciel. He joined L'arc en Ciel in 1991 after leaving another band called Jerusalem's Rod where he was the guitarist.
In addition to being the lead singer and main lyricist of L'Arc~en~Ciel, Hyde has solo projects, as well as his own record label under Sony Japan called Haunted Records.

It was the same like others, when I was a teenager. But at first I wanted to be a painting artist and music was not my priority. Music to me was just a pastime. And I found that music and painting had something in common, that is creativity. Later I thought music could make colours easier than painting. I could express colours in music better. So to me, creating music made me feel rather free. And I thought switching myself into music may be a fate.
The message I want to convey comes out while making music. But whether such a message can be received is not so important. You can have your own way to listen to and to enjoy music. This is good enough.
