Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada (沢田綱吉/ツナ)

Tsuna is a junior-high student and the Vongola Family's mob-boss-in-training. The reason Tsuna was recruited is because he is the great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan a long time ago. Also, the other candidates, for the position of the head of the Vongola Family, died. Before Reborn finds Tsuna, Tsuna is known as "No Good Tsuna" (ダメツナ, Dame Tsuna?) for his poor grades, bad luck, and lack of athleticism. When Reborn shoots him with the Dying Will Bullet, he is revived as a powerful mostly-naked warrior with a flame on his forehead.

Reborn (リボーン)

The infant hitman who drags Tsuna into becoming a mob boss and becomes his home tutor. The current head of the Vongola family sent Reborn to train Tsuna. He is Vongola IX's most trusted hitman. Despite being a mere one year old infant, he behaves as a seasoned mafioso. Reborn often says "Ciao-su" (a mix of the Italian "ciao" and the Japanese "osu", which is a casual male greeting equivalent to the English "Yo!" or "Wassup!").

Hayato Gokudera (獄寺 隼人)

A transfer student that was placed in Tsuna's class. Hayato, who had previously studied in Italy, is a dynamite expert nicknamed "Smokin' Bomb Hayato" (スモーキン・ボム 隼人, Sumōkin Bomu Hayato?). He keeps various explosives hidden on his person and uses those explosives liberally by lighting them with a cigarette (or several) held in his mouth. At one point, when he removed his jacket to do 'dynamite maintenance', he was revealed to be carrying several dozen dynamites, much to everyone's surprise.

Takeshi Yamamoto (山本 武)

Takeshi is Tsuna's classmate and the popular baseball star of the school. He becomes friends with Tsuna, and Reborn tries to recruit him into the Vongola Famiglia. He hardly takes anything seriously, and is often "tricked" by Reborn because he thinks that, "It's a game". Reborn occasionally trains him by putting him in dangerous situations, but Takeshi still believes it to be just a game or simple baseball training. His reflexes are unreasonably good, as is his level of obliviousness; he thinks the various weapons and dangerous objects he sees Reborn and others use on a regular basis are just really advanced kid's toys.

Ryohei Sasagawa (笹川 了平)

Kyoko's older brother who is obsessed with boxing; he even barged into a zoo, expecting to fight some animals. He is the third to take the Deathperation Shot, but it has no effect on him since he always lives "to the limit," and is therefore in Dying Will Mode constantly. He wants to recruit Tsuna to the boxing club and in response, Reborn wants to recruit him into the family. Every time he sees Tsuna and his family doing something strange, he gets fired up and always wants to be a part of it.

Kyoya Hibari (雲雀 恭弥)

Kyoya is the leader of the Discipline Committee, or Prefects, who all happen to be a group of delinquents loyal to Kyoya. Even so, he is a violent delinquent who uses his status to harass other students. He prefers to be alone and cares little for his subordinates. If he is amongst a crowd, he tends to play violent "games" with rules like "I'll bite anyone who wakes me up when I'm sleeping to death," and as mentioned, the loser often has to pay the price with his life, and he tamed a bird which sings the school song.

Lambo (ランボ )

Lambo is a 5-year-old assassin affiliated with the Bovino ("Bovino" means "cow" in Italian) Famiglia. He was born in Italy on May 20 and has a blood type of A. His main choice of weapons are hand grenades, and his future dream is to rule the world. Lambo dresses in a cow suit complete with a tail, and has a huge afro with horns on the sides of his head which gives him the appearance of a bison. He comes to Japan to kill Reborn, so he can prove that he is worthy of becoming his own family's boss. However, he is a complete crybaby, and is no match for Reborn.
He possesses the Ten-Year Bazooka, which switches the target with their own self from ten years later for five minutes. Every time Lambo loses his cool, he uses it on himself, switching with his 15-year-old self. In this form, he switches his cow suit for a casual suit and cow-print shirt. Although this "Adult Lambo" is shown to be handsome, he remains a crybaby, and is often heard saying things that imply his future involves cleaning toilets. He also begins many sentences with "Yare yare" (loosely translated as "Oh my!"; "Oh gosh!" is Viz's translation), and often has one eye closed.

Chrome Dokuro (クローム 髑髏)

A 13-year-old girl born in Japan on December 5, and wears a Kokuyo school uniform.
From what her parents talked about in a flashback, she was a girl known as Nagi and lived a non-social life. After rescuing a cat, she was badly injured in a car accident which lead to the loss of her right eye and some of her organs. The only way to save her life would be to have someone with the same blood type to transfer their organs to her. She did not care whether she lived or not and her parents refused the offer anyway. However, Mukuro Rokudo allowed her to live by creating illusionary organs. Chrome has been shown using two of Mukuro's six skills.

Mokuro Rokudo (六道 骸)

Mukuro is a 15-year-old mafia criminal and leader of the Kokuyo Gang. Before he was to be executed, he, along with his two subordinates, escaped from an Italian prison, which held some of the most dangerous mafia criminals. Not long after, they came to Japan, enrolled in Kokuyo Junior High, and started a gang.

Dino (ディーノ)

Dino is the 22-year-old 10th generation boss of the Chiavorone crime family, and was born on February 4 in Italy, with a blood type of O. Dino is a young man with great skills as a fighter and as a leader. His main weapons are a whip and his pet turtle, Enzio. Like Tsuna, Dino, at first, did not want anything to do with the Mafia and was also a klutz. He became a suitable Mafia boss after Reborn became his home tutor. He came to be known as "Bucking-Horse Dino" (跳ね馬ディーノ, Haneuma Dīno?) ("Bronco Dino" in Viz's translation) and fixed the Chiavorone's financial problems, turning them into the third most influential family. Unfortunately, Dino is so devoted to his family, that when none of his family members are around, his skills decrease dramatically, often accidentally hitting people with his whip and falling down the stairs.

A rival family to the Vongola Family, the Tomaso Family has opposed the Vongolas ever since the beginning of the Mafia underground. During the second generation, the Tomaso Family waged a battle against the Vongolas (the outcome was not mentioned). The Tomaso Family's bosses are always named Longchamp.

Byakuran (白蘭)
One boss of the Millefiore family during the future arc. He is originally the boss of the up and coming Gesso Family. He appears to insist that his subordinates call him by his name. His name means "White Orchid". Thus far he is shown to be in charge, however he may be taking orders from Uni behind the scenes.


Uni ((ユニ)
Uni is the leader of the Giglionero ("Black Lily") mafia family. The Giglionero family is a family that is as old as the Vongola family. This family is one half of the Millefiore family.
She also bears a resemblance to the previous 8th Vongola Boss, Daniela, though it could purely be coincidence.




Shoichi Irie (入江 正一)
Tsuna had previously met Shoichi early on in the series (chapter 13); Lambo had stumbled into Shoichi's house, so he was forced to deliver the child back to Tsuna's house. Upon his arrival, Shoichi experienced first hand just how crazy things are at Tsuna's home. At the time, Shoichi was a middle school student. However, when Tsuna travels nine years and ten months into the future by way of the Ten-Year Bazooka, he is immediately told by an adult Hayato to kill Shoichi when he returns to the past. Although unknown at this moment, it suggests that Shoichi will do something that will lead to Tsuna and Reborn's death.


Tric Gamma
Gamma is an A ranked member of the Millefiore Family, who leads the 3rd attack squad of Blackspell, and specializes in electrical attacks. He appears to be a merciless guy, drinking during his first appearance and also acts arrogant toward Shoichi. He seems to be waiting for Shoichi's 'special' project to be done before he and the Black Spell act. Lal Mirch reveals that he is responsible for wiping out many of the allies of the Vongola Family.


Glo Xinia
Glo Xinia was first introduced during a Millefiore family meeting, transmitting from a remote location via hologram while hunting down the rings. At the meeting, he appears confident and quick-witted, catching on to Byakuran's plans almost instantly, where others at the table do not catch on so quickly. According to Byakuran, his inappropriate methods have caused him to clash with Shouichi in the past.
