Plot Summary:

Every child has an egg in their heart, unseen at first, an egg with the would-be self of their dreams.

Hinamori Amu, part of a group called the Guardians, protect those eggs from becoming x-eggs, eggs filled with resentment and resignation that gives children troubles.

Amu's job is to capture and restore x-eggs to their orginal form. She does this with the help of her three Shugo Chara (guardian characters or her would be selves), Ran, Miki and Su.

Thanks to them she can change her character and abilities, and so fight against the mysterious organization Easter which aim is to find a special egg called Embryo using the x-eggs.....

Hinamori Amu:

*Height: 152 cm
Birthday: September 24
Blood type: O
*Guardian Chara: Ran, Miki, Suu

is a student of Seiyo Elementary. Amu's classmates see her as "cool and spicy", but Amu is actually extremely shy and timid. when Amu wishes for the courage to be reborn as her would-be self, three colorful eggs appear the next morning, which hatch into Amu's three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.
Because of her three Guardian Characters, Amu became a member of the Guardians, . Amu's position with the Guardians is the Joker. Her task, as the Joker, is to search for and purify X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of people's would-be selves. Ran, Miki, and Su help Amu with her task through a process called a Character Transformation, which is enabled by the Humpty Lock and grants Amu special abilities depending on the Character Guardian. Later on, Amu also creates a fourth egg, known as Diamond.

Ran:
Ran is the first to hatch from Amu's eggs and represents Amu's desire to be more honest and athletic. Ran wears a pink visor and a cheerleader outfit and sport shoes. Ran is hardly seen without her pink pom-poms. She is frequently cheering Amu on. During Character Change, Amu gains increased athletic abilities. On Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Heart.

Miki:
The second Guardian Character to hatch is Miki. Miki represents Amu's desire to be more level headed and artistic, Miki is also the one to help Amu make fashion choices. Reflecting Amu's love interests, Miki has shown an interest in Tadase's Guardian Character, Kiseki and Ikuto's Guardian Character Yoru and Kairi's Guardian Character Musashi. During Character Change, Amu gains increased artistic abilities. On Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Spade. As Amulet Spade, Miki's special move is Colorful Canvas.

Su:

The third Guardian Character, Su, represents Amu's desire to be more caring and improve her domestic skills. However, Su is prone to silly mistakes. She is very fond of Amu's teacher, Yuu Nikaidou, after helping Nikaidou realize that he was a good person and can still pursue his own dreams. Amu gains an improvement in cooking and sewing skills during Character Change, as well as becoming "Too Girly". During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Clover. Su does not use Open Heart, instead using her own special maneuver, Remake Honey, which mends damaged things, as well as cleanses X eggs.

And the 4th guardian is...

Dia:

Dia is her unofficial name, she never get a chance to introduce herself to Amu, so Amu calls her Dia, short for Diamond. While Dia is still unborn, sitting in her egg, she because an x-egg. So when she is born she is born as an x-character, Utau takes Dia and does a few character transformations with her. Dia likes Utau more because she says that Utau's heart is shining, unlike Amu's. In the end she goes back to Amu because she notices Amu's heart shining. Dia is a music lover as well as a lover for glittery and shiny things.

The Guardians & the Shugo Charas !!!

Hotori Tadase:


He is the King's Chair of the guardians. When he was younger his desire was to rule the world, and from this desire his Shugo Chara, Kiseki, was born. Tadase is kind and understanding. He likes Amu's character transformation Amulet Heart, which means he is going to end up liking Amu, just like the rest of the world.

Shugo chara: Kiseki

Kiseki is Tadase's Guardian Chara. He looks like a mini Tadase with different-colored hair. He is extremely egotistical, loves to dominate but also has tsundere characteristics. He is always trying to outshine Yoru. His bearing is that of typical "king's fashion", complete with crown and mantle. Kiseki also occasionally calls meetings that require all the Guardian Charas to gather. In volume one, Miki seems to have a crush on him,saying he is cool. Likes to give orders but does not like to obey. Suffers from pollen allergy like Tadase.
Kiseki can do Chara Change with Tadase. When this happens, Tadase gains a golden crown and king’s scepter. The only reason he usually character changes is to help Tadase become confident and if Tadase is called ‘prince’.
After the "Black Diamonds" incident, he became able to Chara Become with Tadase. Tadase becomes "Platina Royale" on Chara Become and used the special skill "White Decoration", a skill thought to be a restoration skill.

Fujisaki Nadeshiko/Nagihiko :


The former Q-Chair (Queen's Chair). Same age as Amu. When Amu rejected the offer to join the Guardians, Nadashiko tried many ways to convince Amu. She helps Amu bake sweets for Tadase as a birthday present for him. Her character after Chara Change is a battle-hungry yakuza type who speaks in Hiroshima slang and carries a naginata.
It was revealed later on in the manga that Nadeshiko is a boy and his real name is Nagihiko. It is the rule of the Fujisaki family that the males are trained to become oyama (male actors who plays female parts in kabuki). That is why Nagihiko wears female clothes and goes by a female name. She is currently studying abroad in Europe to make his dancing "complete". It is hinted that he will return, as a similar-looking character has been around in the latest chapters.
He is yet to do Character Become with Temari.
In all, He is good friends with Amu, he looks over and supports Amu in her love life.

Shugo Chara: Temari

Nadeshiko is actually a boy named Nagihiko. His family are dancers, and you have to be a girl to dance, so the boys have to pretend to be girls. So far no one knows he is a boy. He had to leave for a year to practice dancing, but he will be back. He is very understanding, and can help in hard situations, and Amu thinking he is a girl, Nagihiko her best friend. His Shugo Chara is Temari, who he can't character transform with yet. Also he may never be able to transform with, it is said that Temari disappears. Also when he comes back, it now has to be the Jack, and can no longer be Queen, since everyone know he's a guy.

Mashiro Rima:

*Shugo Chara: Kusukusu

She is the new Queen Chair. The word Queen or Princess is a good fit. She likes to have other people do things for her, she often uses Yaya as her servant. Rima also doesn't really seem to like her shugo chara, however the two make a great team when they transform.

Shugo Chara: Kusukusu

Loves to have fun! Her and Rima enjoy watching comedy shows together. Her special attack is Juggling Party!

Yuiki Yaya:

Yaya Yuiki is the childish girl serving as the Ace Chair and is one year junior to Amu. Yaya often acts immature for her age, such as having an enormous sweet tooth, a great soft spot for items like ribbons as well as tending to be hyperactive. She is also a ballerina, though a rather clumsy one. She has a newborn baby brother named Tsubasa, who, she claims, gets all her parents' attention. It is because of this that her baby-like Guardian Character, Pepe, was born.

Shugo Chara: Pepe

Pepe is a baby-like Guardian Character that belongs to Yaya. When either she or Yaya get hurt or something goes wrong, both of them will begin to whine and cry in unison. Most of her attacks are useless. During Character Transformation they become "Dear Baby." However, there has been some confusion. The character for "Di" is "De" with a small "I". This was confused as "Dei" rather than "Di," leading some to think the name is Day Baby.

Soma Kukai:

Kukai Soma is the upbeat and energetic Jack's Chair of the Guardians. One year senior to Amu, Kukai helps Amu with her training as the Joker. Although he was the captain of the soccer club, Kukai loves and excells at all sports. At the end of the school year, Kukai graduates and goes on to middle school. However, Kukai returns to visit the Guardians and lifts Amu's spirits when she becomes dishearten because her diamond Guardian Egg became and X Egg.

Shugo chara: Daichi

Kukai's Guardian Character is Daichi. He is very good at sports and cannot seem to sit still. He was born when Kukai wanted to do many sports but had to choose. When Daichi and Kukai do Character Change, Kukai becomes even more athletic. When Kukai and Daichi return for a visit, they Character Transform with the power of the Humpty Lock, becoming Sky Jack.
