Aya Matsuura [松浦亜弥] debuted in 2001 with the single Dokki Doki! LOVE Mail. Her first concert performance with Hello! Project was at the Morning Musume Live Revolution 21 Haru concert in April 2001. In 2002 she released her first album First Kiss, which sold 301,530 copies and reached #2 on the Oricon Charts. She then quickly became a favorite amongst Hello! Project fans because of how she shows that type of flavor in her J-Pop songs. Aya Matsuura has become one of the most popular and successful solo artists in the Hello! Project.

Up until now, Matsuura has released five albums and a collection of singles that have achieved respectable placings on the Oricon chart, though so far she has yet to make it to the top spot. She has also participated in various shuffle units with other Hello! Project artists. She has done different types of other work such as CMs, acting in dramas [appearing in over half a dozen TV dramas] and musicals, a few films [being the main protragonist in the movie Sukeban Deka Codename = Asamiya Saki] and doing her own radio shows. Aya Matsuura has also performed overseas, having a concert in Shanghai.


-Aya has appeared in many commercials for companies such as Glico, Pretz and Gogo no Kocha, giving her the name by her fans as a "Commercial Queen"
