Most fighting styles can trace their origins to the Shaolin temple, which is located in the Hunan province of Northern China. In 525 A.D., the Indian Monk Bodhidarma traveled to the Shaolin temple to spread Buddhism. At the temple, he found the monks physically incapable of the severe training he demanded. Bodhidarma then designed exercises to strengthen his pupil's minds and bodies. These exercises are the basis of all Chinese martial arts.

On the service menu of the arcade, there is a stat in the audits section that shows how many times a Kano Transformation has been performed. Obviously this was just to stir up some rumors as Kano was not in the game. Mortal Kombat gained a lot of interest in video game publications (especially in the US) over its secrets, the Ermac screen in MK1 for example. Midway put this in the service menu to make people wonder if it was possible to morph into Kano with Shang Tsung, which of course it was not.

Richard Divizio (born September 6, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor best known for his work in the Mortal Kombat video game series. He holds a degree in computer graphic design from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, of which MK co-creator and former Midway employee John Tobias was an alumnus.
Divizio is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Kano in the original Mortal Kombat. He also appeared in Mortal Kombat II as Baraka, and revised the Kano role for Mortal Kombat 3, in which he also played the masked swordsman Kabal. In 1997, he suited up as Quan Chi in both the game and full motion video sequences in the platform title Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and provided motion capture footage for the character as well in Mortal Kombat 4.
He was the only actor who appeared in all of the digitized Mortal Kombat games, and the characters he portrayed were concealed under masks or makeup. Kano's infrared implant was attached to his face with spirit gum for filming in the first and third games.
Divizio and his fellow MK actors became minor celebrities during the height of Mortal Kombat II's success. They appeared in costume on the cover of the January 1994 issue of Video Games, which featured the group in an extensive profile three months later. Divizio made several appearances at trade shows dressed as Scorpion, despite not having played him in any of the games; this was because Daniel Pesina, who had played Scorpion during filming for MKII, regularly suited up as Johnny Cage.
He returned to the MK series in 2002, contributing to Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as a motion capture actor. Divizio is the man!

Pesina was fired from Midway in 1994 for wearing Cage's costume in an advertisement for the Strata arcade game, BloodStorm, which turned out to be an emphatic flop among fighting game fans. The ad first appeared in the debut issue of the defunct Electronic Gaming Monthly spinoff magazine EGM2.
After his departure from Midway, further ventures into other fighting games proved unsuccessful. After the failure of BloodStorm, he and his brother Carlos (Raiden in the 2D Mortal Kombat games) assisted Data East with its digitized MK clone, Tattoo Assassins, which, despite an extensive feature in a summer '94 issue of EGM, never made it to arcades.
