Perfume is a three girl J-Pop/Techno group originating in Hiroshima who debuted locally in 2001 thanks to a TSS-TV's Auditions for the Actor's School Hiroshima. In 2002 they released their first two singles sold only in Hiroshima called OMAJINAI★ペロリ (OMAJINAI★Perori) and Kareshii Boshuu Chuu.
They moved to Tokyo in 2003 where Yasutaka Nakata began producing them under the BEE-HIVE RECORDS label where their "indies era" began, in the same year they debuted nationally with their single "Sweet Doughnut".
In 2004 they hit the charts for the first time (#117 and #119) with the singles "Monochrome Effect" and "Vitamin Drop". "Linear Motor Girl" was their first single on the S2 DIVISION major label. "Computer City" (Jan 2006) was the second release, and "Electro World", the third under Tokuma Japan Communications label (June 2006).
They released ~Complete Best~ album in August of '06 containing all the most noted songs from their indies era singles, major debut single, and a new track "Perfect Star ・ Perfect Style". In December of that same year they performed their first one man live show.
In February 2007 Perfume released their new single "Fan Service [Sweet]" which contained two new songs: Twinkle Snow Powdery Snow and Chocolate Disco. This also contained a DVD with the PV's and a photo booklet, and was out for a limited time. In March they released "Fan Service [Bitter]" which was the recording of Perfumes one man live the previous year, this contained a large booklet and was out for a limited time.
On Sep. 12 2007 Perfume released "Polyrhythm" single one month after their NHK recycling campaign, with this release they hit the charts with a #7 on their first week! Being the first time Perfume has ever done so, with so much popularity gain in very little time they appeared on very popular shows such as NHK's Music Japan, Hey! Hey! Hey!, Melodix! and much more.
Perfume released Baby cruising Love/Macaroni on January 16th! With a lot of success, they were on #3 on the daily Oricon charts, and up till now sold more than 50k copies. They have appeared on shows like Music Fighter, Music Japan, Music Station and more!! This is the first time Perfume has ever reached such heights in their musical career.
On Feb. 13 2008 Perfume released the "Fan Service ~Prima Box~" which is the re-release of Perfume's indies era singles (Sweet Doughnut, Monochrome Effect, Vitamin Drop), these will be encased in their original jewel cases, with the original cover art. Included will be a DVD with the 3 PV's and special/rare bonus footage (Making of, TV Spots, Commercials etc.), everything will be housed in a special box, this out for a limited time and a special opportunity for anyone who missed these singles when they were first released. Also on the same date the normal edition of Fan Service [Bitter] will be released, which is the DVD of Perfume's first one man live on December '06 in Harajuku ASTRO HALL
Perfume released their second album on April 16, 2008 titled "GAME". This album contains 7 new, never released songs: Ceramic Girl, Secret Secret, plastic smile, GAME, Puppy Love, Take me Take me, and Butterfly plus 6 previously released songs: Twinkle Snow Powdery Snow, Chocolate Disco, Polyrhythm, Seventh Heaven, and Baby Cruising Love, Macaroni. There are two versions, the normal edition and the limited edition which was out for a limited time. The limited edition version of this album will include a DVD with: Macaroni PV
