Rotten Sushi (A pun on "Rotten Tomatoes", Crunchyroll is a type of Sushi, geddit?) is officially fully functional. Please report bugs in the forum. You shouldn't need to become a member to visit the pages, or post in the forum if you don't want to; the group is open to visitors. However, if you do join, you get a handy bookmark in your profile group list to return here (hint hint)...
Is a given show "Worth a watch" or so good that it is "Recommended and rewatchable" or neither of those? A way to put a number on how many people rated it as average, good enough, or great, without getting into scales and decimal point precision.
Here is the Index page. If you want to be methodical, going through the alpha index would cover all the shows. But you can just explore if you wish.
Note: If you rate all the shows that you watched here, the polls remember, so this also provides a backdoor way to manually keep track of your watched show history if you want to, in addition to your episodal history.
What the intent of this group is: As the saying goes, everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it... Well, instead of talking about features I'd like to see, I'm creating a place where I can add a bit of localized functionality.
A simple rating for shows on (only) Crunchyroll.
CR tags have been expanded, so exploration to find similar shows will be easier and more inclusive.
Depending on whether I get feedback, possibly provide combo tag pages for listing the shows by type, genre, and, combinations that make sense, and still include the same poll each place a show appears so that users can explore other shows they may not have known about.
There is a poll for every show, using CR's own objects. Please vote on any show you have seen, if you would... once established, the number of positive votes may encourage new viewers to become fans of the shows. But note with CR polls, you can't change your mind later, so vote carefully (if that matters to you).
There is a Publisher tag for each show.
There is a Production Studio tag for most shows. I couldn't find a few and others had multiples
Forum discussion links (that I can find) have also been provided next to each show so you can see what others have said, but do beware that there are very likely spoilers contained there.
I have added alternate show names where they exist..
I have created "be Adventurous" links (and pages) in lieu of actual recommendations. See if you can figure out why they are linked.
I have provided links so you can try out "Episode 1" without having to hunt it down.
What this group is not:
It is not a replacement for the existing ratings system.
It is not a place to write an essay or to explain yourself, the main Anime forum thread discussion links are provided, and reviews can be submitted in each "official" show page.
It is not a place to use decimal point precision, 5-star ratings already exist on each show page as well.
Note that the worst you can rate a show is "meh". If you dislike a show worse than that, then simply don't rate it.
This is not a place for negativity; there are no "thumbs-down" or "dislikes". If a show is unpopular, it simply won't have many votes. (yes, I recognize the irony inherent in the group name, but I couldn't pass up the pun. Does that make me a bad person?)
It is not a place for everything that exists elsewhere on the internet, it is just to rate the shows that appear here. If you want to rate other shows, there are plenty of places for that, such as MAL, Hummingbird, and Anime-Planet.
Thanks for (perhaps unwitting) assistance go out to:
lorreen For maintaining the Show Discussion Index from which I cribbed a lot of the forum links. Her list is more focused on the current season shows and also includes threads and other information for shows not on CR.
beardfist For providing technical assistance and advice whenever I needed it.
animekami For pointing me to the method to create polls without needing to create a new discussion thread every time.
Main thing I'm noticing is a lot of them aren't available in my region, I don't know if that's another category you could add. I'm in Europe, and my selection seems to be more limited (mostly selecting ones with more rewatch votes).
