About:

Samurais were actually part of the military class who lived in either farms or castle towns. They were obliged to abide by a code of ethics called bushido meaning "the way of the warrior". During the period of the samurais, it was a war among them to defend their masters' lands. They were the first in rank before the farmers, artisans, and merchants. By the time they were conquered in the year 1878, the name samurai had to be changed to shizoku meaning "gentry" or "upper class".
