Studio Ghibli is a famous Japanese animation studio that has created some of the best known and much loved anime’s to come from Japan.

• The studio was founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and his collegue and mentor Isao Takahata along with the studio's executive managing director and long-time producer Toshio Suzuki.

• The first official film created by Studio Ghibli was Laputa: Castle in the sky (although Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was created by the founding members two years before the studio was made).

• All of the soundtacks for Miyazaki’s films are provided by composer Joe Hisaishi.

• Spirited Away is the Studio’s 1st Oscar winning film.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (崖の上のポニョ, Gake no Ue no Ponyo?) is a 2008 animated film by the Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli, written and directed by famed anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. It is Miyazaki's ninth film for Ghibli. The plot centers on a baby fish/mermaid in the sea named Ponyo who becomes a human girl. In pursuing her goal, she befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sōsuke
