The world no. 1 detective, L's latest goal is to hunt down "Kira". L, who is also said to be the trump card of the police, only takes cases that interests him. In Death Note, he can deploy (or seek assistance from) the police all over the world, including the FBI. No one usually know his name, face nor whereabouts as Watari normally acts as his middleman. Mysterious and intelligent, L also masquerades as the other 2 renowned detectives in the world, Erald Coil and Danuve.



L is his main name and alias in the Death Note series. "L" is also renown as the no. 1 detective in the world.
Ryuuzaki is his alias in Japan (and between the Japanese police).
Ryuuga Hideki is the name of a celebrity he used to enroll in the school to get near to Light.
Erald Coil and Danuve are the other top detectives, which are also L.



In Death Note, L describes himself as having a "childish nature", one who is unyielding and hates to lose. Highly intelligent and perceptive, he will use whatever means he can and even take drastic measures to achieve his aims. He is also a risk taker and has no qualms about disclosing his weaknesses and risking his life if it means having a chance to nail down his suspect.
L is also an introvert and does not have much friends; in fact, he describe Light as his first friend.



Highly perceptive and intuitive, L is also bold and daring. An ingenious person, he uses both his brain and actions to nail down suspects quickly, or to gather solid evidence.
L is quick-thinking and knows how to make good use of a situation. He is also analytic, meticulous, and has extremely high and clear reasoning skills. Most of the time, his intuitions and deductions are proven right.



L is believed to be an orphan who stayed in the Wammy's house, an orphan shelter found by Quillsh Wammy (Watari) for gifted young children such as L, Near, and Mello .
L was in England for 5 years and was also the champion for England Junior Cup for tennis.
L uses an Apple's Macintosh computer and a PowerBook G4 laptop (which is seen to be used by Watari).
L has a BMI (body mass index) of 15.6 and is considered underweight!
