Universal Century is the English name for the original timeline of the Gundam anime metaseries. It is also called "Uchuu Seiki", meaning "The Century of Space", in Japanese, but the official English name UC (abbreviation of Universal Century) is often used instead in recent production like MS Igloo and MG model instructions and official pages(i.e. www.gundam.info).
The Universal Century starts with the migration of humanity to populate space, after construction of the first space colony at Side 1 was completed. By far the most proliferative background universe, Universal Century makes up the dominating majority of the entire franchise. While many new Gundam stories are told in their own parallel universe with independent timelines, giving them a greater degree of creative freedom, the original UC storyline continues to be extremely popular for a variety of reasons. It established the series, and delivered many of its best moments, and nostalgia for the oldest of the Gundam shows (and Gundam's resulting status as a pop-culture icon in Japan) is still a major factor in its continuing success.

Rallying the demoralized Axis renegades to the goal of an eventual triumphant return to the Earth sphere, Haman dispatches an advance fleet to aid Delaz in his master plan. When she is rebuffed by Amuro's girlfriend Chan Agi, Quess turns instead to Char, and volunteers to fight for him as a Neo Zeon soldier (under the alias "Quess Air"). However, while Quess proves to be a powerful natural Newtype, she lacks the emotional maturity to handle the sensations of real battle, and the aggression and terror of the battlefield soon begin to overwhelm her vulnerable mind.

Neo Zeon
Char Aznable
Rank: Captain
Age: 33
Mobile suit: MSN-04 Sazabi
The legendary "Red Comet" has now reappeared as the leader of his own Neo Zeon movement. During the One Year War, Char fought for the Principality of Zeon as an ace mobile suit pilot. He then helped found the AEUG resistance group, which opposed the tyranny of the Federation's Titans faction - a role which put Char briefly on the same side as his former adversaries Amuro Ray and Bright Noa. However, Char's new goal is to complete the work of his father Zeon Zum Deikun by forcing all of humanity to emigrate to space, and he once again faces Amuro as an adversary. Amongst themselves, Neo Zeon's officers suspect that Char's true purpose is simply to avenge himself upon Amuro, and that their glorious cause is merely an afterthought.

Operator of the week
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
Corp. Noel Anderson — The operator of the Experimental Unit and the leading female protagonist in the Federation story. She is an expert on mobile suit combat theory. She is quite the "by the book" kind of person, and this often brought her to question Matt's pacifist stance. Although she disagrees with Matt on battle strategies in many occasions, she still shows great admiration for her captain. After the war, she is promoted to Ensign and has the chance to meet with the famous operator of the Pegasus Class Warship Thoroughbred, Miu Takizawa. She is also the Federation operator for the player for the PSP game, Gundam Battle Royale and one of the operators in the sequels Gundam Battle Chronicles and Gundam Battle Universe. One of the cut-scenes in the game imply that she might have a crush on player character. She is featured in the PS2 game, G Generation Spirits as an obtainable character.

Engineer of the week
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
Chan Agi
Rank: Warrant Officer
Mobile suit: RGZ-91 Re-GZ
A Londo Bell technical officer who supervises the development of the Nu Gundam, traveling back and forth between the Ra Cailum and Anaheim Electronics's lunar factory to make sure that the construction of Amuro's new mobile suit is progressing on schedule. Chan has strong feelings for Amuro, and is concerned about Anaheim's last-minute addition of the psyco-frame to his Nu Gundam. As a result, she keeps a T-shaped sample of this exotic material with her for further study.

Deceased Character of the week
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**
Anavel Gato
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Age: 25
Alias: Nightmare of Solomon
Mobile suit: MS-14S Gelgoog
RX-78GP02A Gundam GP02A
AMA-X2 Neue Ziel
During the One Year War, Gato was a famous ace pilot, dreaded by Federation soldiers as the "Nightmare of Solomon." During the last battle of the war he grudgingly agreed to leave the battlefield with Delaz, living to fight another day rather than going out in a blaze of glory. Now this master warrior lives only for the resurrection of the Zeon cause, displaying little emotion other than contempt for the incompetence of his Federation foes. While Kou becomes obsessed with avenging Gato's theft of the Gundam GP02A, this rivalry is decidedly one-sided - it's almost beneath Gato's dignity to acknowledge a clumsy Federation rookie as his adversary.
