Fanbase:
Vic Mignogna is a celebrity among fans of English anime dubs; his roles as characters such as Dark Mousy, Gawl Kudo, Edward Elric, and the evil Broli from the 3 Dragon Ball Z movies, along with his spirited interaction with his fans have earned him quite a following. He is a guest at many anime conventions around the world.
He has an official fanclub, "Risembool Rangers" (named after Edward Elric's hometown in Fullmetal Alchemist), with 7,000+ members worldwide, including fellow voice actors Caitlin Glass and Scott McNeil. Vic's appreciation for his fans led to the creation of the short film Fullmetal Fantasy where he played Edward Elric.
There is also a friendly rivalry between the Rangers and Travis Willingham's fan club, the Miniskirt Army. When both actors are at a convention together, there is usually a game of dodgeball between the two clubs.
Vic Mignogna is also a huge fan of the Star Wars movies and the Star Trek series. He hosts his own fan site called Lightsaberworld.com. He appeared at Iikikon 2008 wearing a Captain Kirk uniform from TOS complete with boots, pants and phaser set to "pocky".
He has stated in several interviews that he is also a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, and that voicing the part of Edward Elric was probably the most memorable role in his voice acting career. These statements were made at Fullmetal Alchemist panels at anime conventions.
Vic has also stated that playing Brolli from Dragon Ball Z put a strain on his voice and usually doesn't do any Broli quotes at conventions. A popular fan favorite is the "Short rant" by Edward Elric or the "Miniskirt Line", the line which he has said to have plagued him ever since he said it.
Miniskirt Line: "Colonel Mustang looks dead sexy . . . in a miniskirt."
Most recently, Vic has teamed with Steven Blum in making audio clips titled "Real Fans of Genius," which parodies Budweiser's Real Men of Genius radio commercials. These anime-themed clips talk about various stereotypical fans of the anime world. To date, four official recordings have been released, which include "Mr. Anime Cosplayer Guy," "Ms. Bewildered Con Mother," and "Mr. Hallway Sleeper Guy." At Kawaii Kon 2007, Vic and Steve debuted a new live version made exclusively for the convention itself, entitled "Mr. Kawaii Kon Volunteer Worker Guy." He also did a similar, but renamed version for Otakon 2007 entitled "Mr. or Ms. Determined Otakon Attendee."
He has also made a fanfilm based on Fullmetal Alchemist, titled Fullmetal Fantasy. It has not been approved by Funimation for debut as of now. He loves to direct, edit and photoshop and has his own home recording studio. He produces his own CDs, and CD's of other bands.
At anime conventions, Mignogna takes great pains to leave a good impression of himself in the minds of his following. He enthusiastically greets his fans at conventions and spares a lot of time for autograph seekers. He also interacts with his guests by telling stories and doing character imitations. He said at the Toronto Anime con recently that he is a huge anime fan since the days of Voltron and Speed Racer.
Vic recently created his own World of Warcraft commercial, following in the footsteps of celebrities such as Mr T and William Shatner. He made a reference to Full Metal Alchemist (his character's job is Alchemy). Vic's character is an Undead Warlock. He has spent a large part of his 46 years composing and voice acting in many hit anime series.
