Signers:
The Signers ( Shigunā) are the only group that can summon the legendary Crimson Dragon, the embodiment of the red star. There are five people in the world that have the dragon birthmarks and five dragons that fit into the legend. So far only four of them are known: Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Akiza, and Luna. The severed arm of the fifth signer is in Rex Goodwin's possession.

Each birthmark represents a part of the Crimson Dragon. Jack Atlas' represents the wings, Yusei Fudo's is the tail of the ancient dragon. Luna's and Akiza's birthmarks represent each one of the dragon's claw. A Signer's birthmark seems to glow when in proximity to a dueling Signer.




The Dark Signers are a mysterious group of duelists, who serve as antagonists to the Signers and primary antagonists for the second arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

When a person dies, he or she is given a chance to live by becoming a Dark Signer at the time of death. If they display a great will to live or a reason for revenge, an Earthbound Immortal may spare them turning them into a Dark Signer in the process. However due to this phenomenon which derives from the Netherworld itself, there's no way to revert the transformation. As a Dark Signer, those individuals are given a great power and a great lust for revenge. All of the Dark Signers, with the exception of Carly, hold some form a grudge against a Signer, which would provide an answer to why the Earthbound Immortals chose them. They are said to be no longer of the living world and incapable of reverting to their former selves.
Thus because of this distinctive group of individuals already had died once, it is seen that once they have been defeated in their own Shadow Duel or Shadow Turbo Duel for that matter, their departure from this world would be completely different. As instead of simply dying like a normal human being, they instead would wither until they become dust.
They are capable of using a distinctive new type of monsters known as Dark Synchro Monsters which are black lined. Their Signature Card are the "Earthbound Immortals", along with the use of Field Spell cards in order to maintain the effects of these powerful beasts in a Duel. There are only five dark Signers at any given time each one possessed by a different geoglyph

Mark of the Dragon:
A dragon birthmark is a special mark that indicates that a person is a Signer. 3000 years ago, an ancient civilization known as the People of the Stars worshiped a mystical light called the Dragon Star, which was prayed on by the leader of the People of the Stars, the Star Dragon King, at the top of the Sanctuary of the Sky. When the star shined, the King knew it would be a message from their god, the Crimson Dragon. The dragon was then summoned to imprison an incarnation of an ancient evil in the earth. This evil is represented in the Nazca Lines.

According to legend, the Crimson Dragon could only by summoned with the help of the Signers, whose marks indicated a part of the dragon. These people are being searched for by a group known as Yliaster, led by Rex Goodwin, and disguised as the Public Security Maintenance Bureau. Rex Goodwin has, as of late, organized a tournament known as the Fortune Cup in order to find the Signers.

Currently, only four people have been confirmed to have a Dragon's Birthmark: Yusei Fudo (who has the Tail Birthmark), Jack Atlas (who has the wings birthmark), Akiza (who has the front claw birthmark) and Luna (who has the rear claw birthmark). A severed arm bearing the head birthmark is in Goodwin's possession. Some fans believe it to be his own arm which he has replaced with a mechanical one.


Mark of the Shadows:
A Mark of the Shadows (known as a "dark mark" in the Japanese version) is a mark appearing on a Dark Signer's arm.

Each mark corresponds to one of the seven Earthbound Immortals. This mark was given to Roman, Devack, Kalin, Misty Tredwell, Rex Goodwin, Greiger, and Carly Carmine by the evil Gods themselves, when they were close to dying. Roman obtained his Mark of the Shadows from the core of Original Enerdy Reactor itself. It is unknown how Devack gained his powers. All of the the dark marks have appeared on the Dark Signers right arm, except the condor which is instead on Rex Goodwin's back.
Spider mark Having the dark mark allows the Dark Signer to use the corresponding Earthbound Immortal as a card.

The Signer equivalent of the Mark of the Shadows is the Mark of the Dragon. Both identify a person belonging to either group and react to one another whenever a Dark Signer and a Signer are near one another. Also, both marks are active while a Dark Signer and a Signer are facing against each other within a Shadow Duel.

Combining the marks of the dragon:
It is possible for a Signer to, at least temporarily, take control of all 5 Marks of the Dragon at once as the entire Crimson Dragon's seal, however the criteria for doing so is sketchy. Yusei, Jack, and Rex Goodwin are the only Signers (past or present) to have done this. Yusei and Jack did so inadvertently while trying to save Kalin and Carly, respectively, and possessing all 5 marks allowed them to summon their respective Savior monsters. Rex Goodwin was instead able to do so at will during the 3-vs-1 Shadow Turbo duel against Yusei, Jack, and Crow, however doing so did not seem to afford him anything non-cosmetic.

Five Dragons:
The Five Dragons are a series of cards, introduced in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. They play a part in the legend of the Crimson Dragon and the Signers. Each of the five Signers possesses one of the Five Dragons. As of now, all four of the known "Five Dragons" are Synchro Monsters.

Stardust Dragon (Yusei Fudo)

Red Dragon Archfiend (Jack Atlas)

Black Rose Dragon (Akiza)

Ancient Fairy Dragon (Luna)


The Earthbound Immortals, known as Earthbound Gods in the Japanese version, are evil incarnate entities, that were sealed in the Nazca Lines, by the Dragon Star and its servants.

These Evil Gods are shaped in the form of a corresponding Nazca Line and each member of the Dark Signers wears striped robes bearing the color of their corresponding Earthbound Immortals. Their colors come from Wiphala, banner of the Inca Empire, with only white currently missing. Each color of the Earthbound Immortals are also the colors of rainbow.

The Earthbound ImmortalS serve as to the antithesis to the Crimson Dragon and the Five Dragons. As after a millennium of confinement these monstrous beings were released after an Enerdy accident occurred in the area now known as Satellite. It was thought to be an accident as a result of the research into the Momentum Energy (Enerdy aka duel energy) going horribly awry, in which supposedly the power generator was supposed to spin clockwise to generate an infinite positive power supply but instead it spun counter clockwise, creating infinite negative energy and resulting in the occurrence of the "Zero Reverse Effect" which ultimately opened a hole to the underworld, allowing these monsters to escape.

However the true nature of this incident was later revealed to be caused by Roman Goodwin, who, upon learning of the 5,000 year battle between the Crimson Dragon and these Evil sealed up Gods, was taken over by these Wicked God powers instead. In order for him to be resurrected as the future leader of the Dark Signers, he decided to kill himself by overloading the Enerdy Reactor, thus causing the horrible incident.

It has been revealed that each corresponding Earthbound Immortal stands for a codename relating to the Original Enerdy Reactor. While Uru stands for the codename referring to the Enerdy Reactor itself, the other four Gods' names each stand for a codename for each of the reactor's control units. Chacu Challhua and Wiraquocha Rasca do not appear to have control units.

Their labeled name, "Earthbound Immortal" is based on the corresponding Nazca Lines that each were imprisoned in. Each Earthbound Immortal is featured rising from the depths of the "underworld" and each of them are shown with a different ground texture on their corresponding game card. They are polar opposites of the Five Dragons, as they fight as the servants of the King of the Underworld, which is mentioned by Roman before he dies. This is similar to how the Five Dragons fight for the Crimson Dragon.

Crimson Dragon:
The Crimson Dragon (赤き竜 Akaki Ryū) is the embodiment of the Red Star, a god. Long ago, before the Inca, the "People of the Stars", (also known as "Signers") called upon the "Red Star" for aid to save their lands from the Wicked Gods that threatened the peace of their civilization. The "Red Star" answered their call and came down from the heavens in the form of a Great Red Dragon. The Crimson Dragon then sealed away the Wicked Gods in the Earth, which we now call the Nazca Lines. The Crimson Dragon reappeared during Yusei and Jack's duel when "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" battled.

Once again on their rematch the Crimson Dragon appeared however everyone was witness to it and with the 4 Signers present on the Cup, its appearance was more defined than the last time as each Birthmark was clearly represented also the dragon's head changed. During the duel the legendary Dragon God show to Yusei, Jack, Luna and Akiza a disturbing vision in which Satellite is being destroyed by an unknown force and a in its place a mark resembling the shape of a Spider appears.



The King of the Underworld is the consequential ruler of what´s known as the Netherworld.

Mentioned briefly by the Dark Signers' leader, Roman Goodwin in his rematch against Yusei Fudo. For now, not much is known about this character, only that the Dark Signer describes this unknown entity as the "Ultimate God", the one said to be the mightiest of them all.

According to Roman it shall appear soon, if the four control towers for the original Enerdy Reactor are not activated before sunset, as by then the Door to the Netherworld will finally be opened.

Later, after Akiza fails to seal the Lizard Tower before sundown, the Condor geoglyph then appears on the sky towards the direction to where New Domino City is. After this, as the original Enerdy reactor's light is emanating from inside the B.A.D area crater, suddenly then the Netherworld´s Ruler emerges from it.

At first it takes the form of a giant mass of dark slime, but then it begins to mutate and acquires another distinctive shape, its new form resembling the Fifth Dragon, but remaining a dark gray.

While the King of the Underworld starts on its path toward the sky formed Nazca Line, Kuribon warns Luna that they must not let it reach the Condor geogylph. The Crimson Dragon also appears and transports the Signers along with their companions to where the Stairway to the Dragon Star is, where Rex Goodwin himself is waiting. As he reveals his true identity as the final Dark Signer with the Condor mark glowing upon his back, he explains that he must complete a ritual for the King of the Underworld to gain its full power. Goodwin then proceeds to declare a Shadow Turbo Duel that will be held within Condor geoglyph as the ritual to welcome the Ruler of Underworld, one which ultimately requires Signers to be sacrificed.

After Rex Goodwin, summons Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca, the King spots it and dispatches an army of smaller condors to attack Yusei, Jack and Crow. However they are fought off by Ancient Fairy Dragon and Black Rose Dragon, who have been able to be summoned by Luna and Akiza.

After Yusei finally defeats Goodwin, the Crimson Dragon then arrives, using Yusei`s Majestic Star Dragon to gain physical form, in order to attack the King. Thus the Netherworld´s Ruler assaults them with a hyperbeam, Yusei with the Crimson Dragon pass right through and enter the King`s body. On the moment Yusei is inside of it, it encounters the rest of the defeated Dark Signers along with Goodwin who has return to its old self as well as his brother Roman.

As they both thank him, they also tell him that the others will be revived. However both brothers not as they cross over in to the light. After this, as Yusei and Red Dragon pass right through the King, this disappears soon after as a golden ray of light emerges from its body, thus vanquishing it.
