Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's characters:
Yusei Fudo (不動遊星, Fudō Yūsei) is the main character, he plays a "Speed/Junk" deck focusing on summoning weaker monsters and Tuning them to play more powerful Synchro monsters, most notably Junk Warrior, Nitro Warrior and Turbo Warrior. He lives in Satellite, the lower half of New Domino City. He is respected and admired by his friends for his genius style dueling, and his cool and clever personality. His first D-Wheeler was stolen by his rival Jack, along with his signature card, Stardust Dragon. Two years later, with a new Duel Runner of his own creation, Yusei sets out to reclaim his Dragon. He was chosen as a Signer by the People of the Stars, and is marked by the Crimson Dragon's Tail, which appears on his arm when he fights alongside Stardust Dragon, or encounters another Signer.

Jack Atlas (ジャック・アトラス, Jakku Atorasu?, 18 years old): Jack is known as the "Absolute King of the Riding Duel", and was once Yusei's best friend, but they became bitter rivals after Jack stole Yusei's Stardust Dragon and D-Wheeler and left for New Domino City. Now, as a former resident of Satellite, he must hide his past from the rest of society. He is very arrogant and overconfident, but still has a strong conscience. His signature card is also a Synchro monster, Red Dragon Archfiend (Red Daemon's Dragon in the Japanese version). He plays a "Swarm" Deck, focusing on quickly Tuning weaker monsters together to summon his Dragon. Jack is one of the five Signers, the chosen ones of the People of the Stars, and carries the Crimson Dragon's Wings.

Aki Izayoi (十六夜 アキ, Izayoi Aki?): Aki is a cold and ruthless girl with the power to bring the monsters and magic of Duel Monsters to life, an ability that can only be used through anguish and sadness. Because of this, she chooses to distance herself from people, believing her power to be caused by the Dragon birthmark she possesses. She is the third Signer, who plays a deck based around Plant-Type Monsters and holds the "Black Rose Dragon". Because of this, and her abilities, she is called the "Black Rose Witch". She often hides her appearance with a tattered cloak and covers her face with a mask. It was confirmed during the Fortune Cup that her birthmark is one of the dragon's claws.

Rua and Ruka are twins who aid Yusei Fudo, whom they adore and support in his duels while making fun of fate. Rua is the lively and blundering one, and Ruka is the calm and collected sister. They both meet Yusei after his duel with Ushio and the twin Rua challenges Yusei to a duel.
Rua is the lively and blundering twin brother of Ruka. He plays a "Morphtronic" deck ("De former" in Japanese, also written as "D-Former"), with monsters based on Transformers that have different abilities in attack mode and defense mode. He idolizes Jack, and even owns figurines of him, his Duel Runner, and his Dragon. He duels in the Fortune Cup tournament in place of his sister. He has some knowledge of the dragon birthmarks, since his sister has one, and was shocked to discover that Yusei has one too.
Ruka is is the calm and collected twin sister of Rua. She plays a "Fairy/Spirit" deck, and gained the ability to speak with Duel Monster spirits, after an incident that occurred eight years ago. Ruka fell into a coma at the age of three, but recovered after a month, thanks to Rua who was by her side the whole time calling her name. After she awoke, she claimed to have visited the Duel Monster spirit world in her dreams, where she met the spirit of Ancient Fairy Dragon, who charged her with the duty of keeping the spirit world safe. Ruka was invited to enter the Fortune Cup, however she had no interest in participating. Rua thought of the idea to enter in her place. She dislikes dueling, as speaking to monster spirits tires her. She is also one of the five Signers. Her birthmark is one of the Crimson Dragon's Claws and her dragon is revealed to be Ancient Fairy Dragon, although its card is not currently in her possession.

Rex Godwin is the leader of the "Yliasters", the group of Star Guardians who were said to bring peace to the world and the chief of public maintenance for Neo Domino City. With his elitism, he transformed the city into a hierarchical society. He shows interest in the dragon-shaped birthmarks that both Yūsei and Jack have, and is the person who explains their significance to Jack. He holds the Fortune Cup to gather the remaining Signers and awaken their powers. It is seen that he can be aggressive if necessary, but usually keeps a calm demeanor. [2] Has either a cybernetic left hand or arm. He is in possession of a severed arm with a dragon mark, making it possible that he is the 5th signer.

He confronts Yusei Fudo, while Yusei is helping Rally Dawson escape the securities. He accuses Yusei of stealing the D-Wheel he claims Yusei should be arrested anyway for assisting in Rally's escape. Yusei duels him, where if Yusei won, the Bureau was to forget the events of that day. Ushio accepts and after losing vows to crush Yusei.
Despite his harsh traits, Ushio paid for the D-Wheel part that was stolen from his own paycheck, when asked by his superior why he did it, Tetsu simply replies, "Well, it is the humanity of a duelist,", showing that he has a good sense of responsibility and duty, Yusei even mentions that he considers Tetsu different from the other figures of authority in Neo Domino City.
Ushio was given a new deck from the Bureau to use in a rematch with Yusei. He challenges Yusei to a Riding Duel, while Yusei trying to get into Neo Domino City.
Ushio reappears later in the series over looking Yusei leaving the detention center. He is there shown to now have a large scar on his face. He later tries to catch Yusei and challanges him to another duel.

Crow (クロウ, Kurō?) is one of Yusei's friends and a thief. Crow's motives for thieving are primarily for helping people in need, and for his friends. His custom Duel Runner, the Black Bird, has a built in Flying Formation used to cross large gaps. He uses a Black Feather deck that can quickly summon monsters and use their abilities to win a duel. He is voiced by Shintaro Asanuma in the Japanese version.

Shortly afterwards, when Rally Dawson comes to give Yusei a chip for his D-Wheel, Nerve recognises it as a new chip and asks Rally where he got it.

Blitz is a friend of Yusei Fudo. His name comes from the German word for lightning. He along with Taka and Nerve hang out in Yusei's underground base.
Blitz insists that Yusei Fudo leave Jack Atlus alone for stealing his D-Wheel and "Stardust Dragon". That he should just be happy with what he's got.

Taka is a friend of Yusei Fudo. He along with Nerve and Blitz hang out in Yusei's underground base.

Rally Dawson is friends with Yusei Fudo.
In order to help Yusei duel Jack Atlus, he steals parts for Yusei's D-Wheel. He is marked as a thief by the Publc Order Bureau, by having a criminal mark put on his face, which allows him to be tracked by the Bureau.
Due to Rally's appearance and clothing, many mistake him for a girl.

The only remaining memento of his friend is Kyuji's scorched "Machiners Sniper" card from the crash. This incident caused Saiga to develop a grim outlook on Duel Monsters and on friendship in general.
Following Himuro's instructions, Yusei Fudo seeks Saiga's help in recovering his D-Wheel and deck from the Securities. Saiga ridicles him for planning to sneak into the Security's storage to steal it back, by telling him it's the same as getting caught.

A Dragon birthmark is a special mark that indicates that a person is a Signer. Each birthmark represents a part of the Crimson Dragon. Currently, only four people have been confirmed to have a Dragon's Birthmark: Yusei Fudo (who has the Tail Birthmark), Jack Atlas (who has the Wings Birthmark), Aki Izayoi (who has the Front Claw Birthmark) and Luna (who has the Rear Claw Birthmark). A severed arm bearing the Head Birthmark is in Godwin's possession.

The Dark Signers, on the other hand possess spider-like marks that are only temporary. Dark Spiders land on people and attach themselves onto their neck, infusing the person with dark powers and Dark Monsters. They can initiate Shadow Duels, in which monsters cause real life damage with their attacks. However, once a Dark Signer is defeated, the person has no memory of being a Dark Signer and all influence by the spider birthmark is removed. Their members as of now are Rudger, the leader of the Dark Signers; Kyosuke Kiryu, a member who was once a friend and a big brother figure to Yusei; and Demak, a member who strongly detests Signers. As of Episode 29 they have taken over Dick Pitt, a Satellite Street Fighter whom Carly identified and Officer Trudge.
