This is the story about Louise, an unlucky, struggling student who has earned the nickname "Zero Louise" from her fellow students due to her current record of zero successes with magic. In fact, her magic tends to go spectacularly wrong.



She goes to a magic school called Tristein Academy of Magic in an alternate world. One day, as an important test of her aptitude for magic she must summon a familiar to be her servant. She tries to summon an animal companion to be her familiar but ends up summoning Hiraga Saito, a Japanese boy from earth. It's difficult to say who is more surprised and shocked, but the rules don't allow for second attempts. Louise is stuck with her strange familiar, and he with her.
