The full moon shone brilliantly against the dark sky, casting dark shadows across the face of the man staring up at it, a glint of longing shining in his single eye along with the silver reflection. Takasugi let out a puff of smoke from his kiseru, leaning back against the wall of his room. They were the ones who wanted to hold the meeting tonight... why aren't they here yet?, he thought in annoyance. His soldiers could be incompetent idiots, but he couldn't bring himself to hate them... and they usually proved helpful at the end of the day. He felt his gaze drawn back to to moon, which seemed almost to big to be true, like it was in an anime or something. He almost felt as though he could reach out and touch it, but he didn't dare to try because he knew it was much farther away than it looked, like many of the things he wished for. But his soliloquy was cut short when he heard footsteps approaching in the hallway... |

"Excellent, Matako. Your efforts have brought us closer to our goal. Everything seems to be proceeding according to plan, and we probably couldn't have done that without you." He turned to Takechi next, making his face into a mask of calmness to avoid showing his irritation. He often wondered why it was he put so much faith in these kinds of people. But the reverse was also true, they had no good reason to trust him either. "And your contribution won't be forgotten either. However," he glanced between the three faces before him to watch their reactions as he continued, "I can tell you haven't asked for a meeting right now simply to boast of your successes." He fixed his sharp gaze on Bansai, waiting for an answer. |

She clenches her fist and a fire burns in her eyes as she looks to the future for more chances to impress her beloved Shinsuke-sama ("Next time, next time I'll be sure to do something to gain his recognition!!!") She stands there daydreaming of how she'll be able to impress her Shinsuke-sama as the scene pans over to Takechi and Bansai |

The Kiheitai is simply not ready for something like this and involving ourselves with those people won't shift the odds in our favor. The Harusame 7th Squad is already suspicious of our intentions. Allying ourselves with that other group isn't going to help out our case either...What happens when the Harusame, and most importantly, that Captain of theirs finds out?" Words of encouragement weren't exactly his forte, but he needed some way to convince them this would all work out. "Over our heads, you say? There's nothing to worry about. The Harusame, those guys, it doesn't matter. Every last one of them is under my-- our control. I've made a certain... agreement with them. It's surprising, how easy it is to use someone's intentions to your advantage. In their attempt to avoid being used and discarded, as they no doubt suspect, they have only performed even closer to what I had intended. Everything proceeds according to plan." He narrowed his eye thoughtfully. "However, there is one factor I failed to consider. An old... friend of mine, you might say... is still causing trouble. I had hoped our 'allies' would finally be able to deal with him, along with the Shinsengumi, but even they couldn't do that. Perhaps it is too much to ask of people." "... What am I getting myself into, you ask?" He looked down with a hard-to-read smile. "Nothing has changed. I'm only doing the same thing I've always done. If a few extra sacrifices must be made along the way, what difference does that make?" A high-pitched, unstable laugh rose from his throat, echoing in the dark room. If Takasugi does open the package, he will find a brand new cellphone. And waiting for him on the cell phone, he will find the following messages. Hey Shin-chan!
